The\u00a0comic is a\u00a0crossover between the upcoming game and the iconic Viking-themed manga\u00a0<em>Vinland Saga<\/em>, drawn by the author of the latter.<\/p>\n<p><em>Assassin&#8217;s Creed Valhalla<\/em> marks the return of the\u00a0<em>Assassin&#8217;s Creed<\/em> series after going on hiatus for about two years. The latest installment follows Eivor, a ninth-century Viking, as they\u00a0explore the land that would become England. Ubisoft has gradually released information about the game over the last few months, including some unexpected collaborations. For example, <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/assassins-creed-valhalla-reebok-shoes-collab\/\">Reebok will release\u00a0<em>Assassin&#8217;s Creed Valhalla<\/em> shoes<\/a>\u00a0and clothes in upcoming months.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/assassins-creed-valhalla-pc-specs-recommended-minimum\/\">Assassin&#8217;s Creed Valhalla PC System Specs Revealed<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Ubisoft Japan revealed the manga via Twitter. Although the motion comic included in the announcement tweet hints at an exciting adventure, the manga is unfortunately only six pages long.\u00a0It\u00a0depicts a brief encounter between Eivor and Thorfinn, the main character of\u00a0<em>Vinland Saga<\/em>. Eivor sieges a fleet of ships and ultimately knocks out Thorfinn before leaving.\u00a0The encounter\u00a0is presumably non-canon to <em>Assassin&#8217;s Creed Valhalla<\/em>, unlike <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/assassins-creed-valhalla-song-of-glory-graphic-novel-eivor\/\">the prequel graphic novels releasing next year<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/UBISOFT_JAPAN\/status\/1319594418794450944\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>It should be noted that\u00a0<em>Assassin&#8217;s Creed Valhalla<\/em> and\u00a0<em>Vinland Saga<\/em> don&#8217;t actually take place at the same time, so this crossover would be impossible. The game takes place in the ninth century, while the manga takes place in the eleventh century.\u00a0This kind of contradiction has never stopped exciting crossovers before, but it is strange given the game&#8217;s adherence to historical accuracy. For example, even though <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegamer.com\/assassins-creed-valhalla-robin-hood-sherwood-forest\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Eivor can visit the famed Sherwood Forest<\/a>\u00a0in-game, they cannot meet Robin Hood, as Eivor is there a few centuries too early for that.<\/p>\n<p>Dedicated\u00a0<em>Assassin&#8217;s Creed<\/em> fans may be confused by the choice to include the male iteration of Eivor in the crossover manga. The prequel novels will treat female Eivor as canon, but\u00a0the actual\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/assassins-creed-valhalla-male-female-eivor-canon\/\"><em>Assassin&#8217;s Creed Valhalla<\/em> game\u00a0treats both genders as canon<\/a>. As the crossover manga simply can&#8217;t be reconciled with the canon of either franchise, perhaps it is best to take it on its own terms. Eivor remains\u00a0obscured until the manga&#8217;s final panels, so fans of the female Eivor can at least imagine her to be under the hood for most of the manga.<\/p>\n<p>Although the manga doesn&#8217;t do much in the way of world-building,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/assassins-creed-valhalla-season-pass\/\"><em>Assassin&#8217;s Creed Valhalla<\/em> will expand its world<\/a> in exciting ways\u00a0via post-release season pass content. Namely, players will be able to visit Ireland and France,\u00a0allowing\u00a0Eivor to play an important role in even more historical events. Plus, Eivor will experience an in-canon crossover of sorts with a quest modeled after <em>Beowulf<\/em>,\u00a0the famous English epic poem.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Assassin&#8217;s Creed Valhalla\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>launches on November 10th for PC, PlayStation 4, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X\/S.
