Pokemon Sword<\/em><\/strong> and\u00a0Shield<\/em><\/strong> players have been prepping for icy expeditions with the arrival of the new Crown Tundra DLC Passes. Now that the new Galarian region is open for exploration, Pokemon Trainers can finally capture exciting new Legendary Pokemon, like the mysterious nature-loving Calyrex.<\/p>\n

At first capture, Calyrex will be fused with another\u00a0Pokemon Sword<\/em><\/a> and\u00a0Shield<\/em><\/a>\u00a0Legendary Pokemon, but thankfully, players are able to separate and rejoin these Pokemon as they see fit. Using the Reins of Unity item allows players to\u00a0switch between Calyrex’s potential forms.<\/p>\n

To capture Calyrex, Pokemon Trainers essentially have to help reunite the\u00a0mythic deer-bunny with one of its long lost Legendary Horse Pokemon<\/a>.\u00a0Players will find themselves helping Freezington’s Peony on a quest to save a weakened Calyrex, which eventually culminates in the opportunity to capture either Ice Rider, or Shadow Rider Calyrex, depending on the chosen Legendary\u00a0steed.<\/p>\n

Upon capture, players will also find the Reins of Unity item (given by Peony) in their Key Items pocket. This\u00a0appropriately named item\u00a0also happens to be the key to uniting (and separating) Calyrex and either Glastrier or Spectrier<\/a>.<\/p>\n

To separate Calyrex from Glastrier or Spectrier, simply follow these steps:<\/p>\n

  1. After capturing Calyrex, open the Main Menu (X button)<\/li>\n
  2. Search through Key Items for the Reins of Unity<\/li>\n
  3. Select Reins of Unity – if a mounted\u00a0Calyrex is in the party, players will be able to select it and\u00a0separate it from Glastrier\/Spectrier. Likewise, if a player has Calyrex and either of the\u00a0Crown Tundra’s Legendary Horse Pokemon in their party, the Reins of Unity will allow them to reunite<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Pokemon\u00a0<\/em>veterans may recall similar methods being employed by\u00a0Legendaries like Shaymin or Hoopa<\/a>, who change forms with the help of a special Key Item, but even if not, the game makes\u00a0it clear that the Reins of Unity directly affect Calyrex. The ability to choose between the powerful Pokemon’s forms is indispensable for Trainers hoping to team up with any of these new legends, and needless to say, it’s great that the Reins of Unity are incredibly easy to obtain.<\/p>\n

    Rather than having to solve another Crown Tundra Legendary Pokemon puzzle<\/a>, or chase Legendary Birds across Galar, players can simply capture Calyrex and take advantage of its full potential immediately thereafter.\u00a0Once teamed up with Calyrex, players will certainly want to check out the above mentioned Legendary features as well. With a powerful Psychic-type like Calyrex, tracking down and defeating powerhouses like Regirock should be no sweat for Pokemon Trainers.<\/p>\n
