Fans eager to play\u00a0Blade Runner: Enhanced Edition<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0will have to wait a little longer, as the game has officially been delayed out of 2020 with no new release date in sight.<\/p>\n

Developer Nightdive Studios\u00a0announced the delay of Blade Runner: Enhanced Edition<\/em><\/a>\u00a0in an interview with Eurogamer published today, citing difficulties including\u00a0being\u00a0unable to locate the original source code of the 1997 PC hit.<\/p>\n

Nightdive Studios announced\u00a0Blade Runner: Enhanced Edition<\/em><\/a> earlier this year, but the original source code was lost shortly after the game’s developer, Westwood Studios, was purchased by EA after\u00a0Blade Runner<\/em>‘s release. Nightdive Studios is also having difficulty communicating with EA regarding further content related to the game, according to CEO Stephen Kick.\u00a0Beyond that there may also some legal hurdles that would have to be jumped through to re-purpose the original content.<\/p>\n

Without access to the source code, Nightdive Studios\u00a0has to work backwards and reverse engineer the existing code, which has apparently proven quite difficult. Blade Runner: Enhanced Edition<\/em> received a trailer in early September along with another project the developer is working on, a\u00a0remaster of the N64 classic, Shadow Man<\/em><\/a>.\u00a0While Blade Runner<\/em> is having difficulties, development of Shadow Man: Remastered<\/em> is still on track.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile Nightdive Studios is days away from the\u00a0release of Strife: Veteran Edition<\/em> on the Nintendo Switch<\/a>. Originally developed by Rogue Entertainment in 1996, Strife<\/em> is a\u00a0first-person shooter reminiscent of the original Doom<\/em> with some light RPG elements, in which players face off against a religious organization known as The Order.<\/p>\n

Blade Runner: Enhanced Edition<\/em><\/strong> is\u00a0in development for the Nintendo Switch, PC,\u00a0PS4, and Xbox One.<\/span><\/p>\n
