The shark role-playing\u00a0game Maneater<\/strong><\/em> from Tripwire Interactive has been popular\u00a0on the Xbox One since its release this May. As numerous games receive updates for\u00a0next-generation consoles coming this November, Maneater<\/em> is also coming to the PS5 and Xbox Series X<\/a>.\u00a0Recently, the developer for the\u00a0game shared more information on\u00a0how it will be enhanced for the Xbox Series X\/S.<\/p>\n

Once the Xbox Series X releases,\u00a0Maneater<\/em><\/a> will be getting an optimization update that will reportedly improve key elements. Xbox\u00a0Wire\u00a0published a Q&A\u00a0with\u00a0Maneater\u00a0<\/em>Product\u00a0Director David Amata yesterday, in which he shared more behind the scenes details\u00a0on the game’s optimization.<\/p>\n

When asked what excited him about the game’s optimization on the Xbox Series X, Amata said\u00a0the strength of the new console’s solid-state drive (SSD) was the biggest highlight. SSDs are external hard drives used to store\u00a0more data from other\u00a0devices when they’re near full\u00a0occupancy. The new Xbox Series X SSD<\/a>\u00a0comes in handy with easing the\u00a0extra storage of games, apps, and everything else installed on the console. Normally it’s an accessory, but the Xbox Series X will come with its own built-in SSD.<\/p>\n

Amata\u00a0said the most exciting part of\u00a0working with the Xbox Series X’s SSD is the speed it provides. He\u00a0explains that\u00a0the benefits of developing Maneater<\/em> with SSD\u00a0are that the game can have better\u00a0visuals, quicker load times, and maximize draw distance.\u00a0The new hardware also allows Tripwire to realize its vision for the game by incorporating ray-tracing for better water simulation, more vibrant lighting, and other enhancements. Not only that, but the game will\u00a0apparently run at 4K HDR and\u00a060 FPS on the Xbox Series X<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Amata\u00a0said\u00a0developing\u00a0Maneater<\/em> for\u00a0the Xbox Series X\u00a0was a “relatively seamless experience,” as Tripwire’s development process and tools were compatible with the new hardware. This allowed the developer to get the game running quickly.\u00a0Maneater<\/em> will be a\u00a0Smart Delivery game on Xbox Series X<\/a>,\u00a0which will\u00a0transfer and update the\u00a0experience for\u00a0old and new players\u00a0alike.<\/p>\n

When asked what the Xbox Series X brings to table in terms of development, Amata\u00a0said the new console generation “raises the bar” for future game development projects.\u00a0The\u00a0Q&A wraps up with Amata emphasizing how\u00a0Tripwire is\u00a0excited to bring gamers the\u00a0upgraded Maneater<\/em>\u00a0on Xbox Series X<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Maneater<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with versions for\u00a0Xbox Series S\/X\u00a0and PS5 launching alongside the respective consoles.<\/p>\n
