Pokemon GO<\/em><\/strong> players can now enjoy the first of a new kind of in-game event. “Catch Mastery” events are Niantic’s\u00a0latest kind of special Pokemon day, and they will feature a\u00a0specific Pokemon, along with bonuses for skillful Poke Ball throws.<\/p>\n

The first\u00a0Pokemon GO<\/a><\/em> Catch Mastery event will focus on Ghost-type Pokemon and feature, specifically, Drifloon. Pokemon Trainers will begin seeing event\u00a0perks go live on October 25th, 2020, at 8 AM (local time,)\u00a0with a worldwide conclusion on the same day, at 10 PM (local time).<\/p>\n

Players will not only receive Bonus XP\u00a0when making successful Nice, Great, Excellent, and Curveball Throws, but also have the opportunity to complete a special Timed Research, and\u00a0event-exclusive\u00a0Ghost-themed Research<\/a> tasks. The “Catch Mastery: Ghost” Field Research tasks are set to include Mega Gengar Energy, Ghost-type encounters\u00a0as rewards, and Drifloon will be appearing much more frequently in the wild.<\/p>\n

Shiny Drifloon is\u00a0obtainable, but only Drifloon’s spawn rate itself is boosted so players unfortunately\u00a0should not expect to\u00a0encounter more Shiny Drifloon than usual. That said, the Catch Mastery: Ghost event<\/a> gives players ample opportunities to\u00a0capture Drifloon, so a Shiny isn’t totally out of the question.<\/p>\n
