The Lego Star Wars<\/em> franchise has a track record of being way more fun and original than they have any right to be. The humorous retelling of popular franchises seems like something most people would roll their eyes at, but Traveller\u2019s Tales, the developer of countless Lego<\/em> games, has shown that these games can put a charming spin on beloved franchises without ruining them. After Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0is finally released in 2021, there\u2019s another story from the galaxy far, far away that deserves its own Lego<\/em> game:\u00a0The Mandalorian<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The hit show\u00a0was one of Disney Plus\u2019 launch titles, and The Mandalorian<\/em> will release its second season<\/a> on October 30th. It\u2019s a fun action-packed series that would still hold up, even if it was made from bricks. From its cast of cool-looking characters down to the already outstanding action scenes, the pieces are already in place for an enjoyable video game adaptation of The Mandalorian.<\/em><\/p>\n

The Mandalorian<\/em>‘s premise already has the strong foundations for fun game, as a bounty hunter who travels through space with a ship full of advanced weaponry completing different missions. In other words,\u00a0The Mandalorian<\/em> sounds like a solid game premise<\/a> on its own.\u00a0With Lego<\/em> games already making a jump to the open-world approach, it’s almost as if the stars are aligning. However, to truly get the full Mandalorian<\/em> experience, the game would need forego the old Lego<\/em> formula of playing through different episodes. Instead, accepting missions from NPCs much like a standard RPG would definitely stay true to the identity of the show.<\/p>\n

The world The Mandalorian<\/em> takes place in is deceptively big because of the nature of the show. Episodes rarely show the Mandalorian staying in one place for too long, giving the Lego<\/em> adaptation of the series ample space for world building and explorable maps. Lego<\/em> has shown it is capable of creating huge worlds for players to traverse and explore, as demonstrated by Lego Dimensions<\/em> and the upcoming Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga<\/em>. The world can be filled with a variety of Easter Eggs and familiar scenes, but also make room for Star Wars<\/em> haracters from the recent films and the original trilogy<\/a> to make appearances. An open world Lego<\/em> game where the player flies around the galaxy on the Razor Crest makes for a promising game and sounds like something many fans of the series would absolutely love.<\/p>\n

There are a handful of scenes within The Mandalorian<\/em> that could easily be translated into the Lego Star Wars<\/em>\u2019 style with the use of slapstick and visual gag humor. While Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga<\/em> has to go through the effort of\u00a0leaning into some the more\u00a0hated moments from the Star Wars<\/em> sequel trilogy<\/a>, The Mandalorian<\/em> as a series sometimes already feels more humorous than other Star Wars<\/em> stories.<\/p>\n

A scene that stands out for its comedic value would be the first encounter between the Mandalorian and Cara Dune, a brutal fight scene that ends with the two of them pointing blasters at each other\u2019s heads, and Baby Yoda<\/a> defusing the situation by adorably sipping a bowl of soup. This scene already ends with Lego Star Wars<\/em>\u2019 signature brand of humor, but the real creativity can come in how the fight between Cara and the Mandalorian is portrayed, with the creator of the Lego Star Wars<\/em> franchise shown to have creativity in spades. This scene and a ton of others from the show could easily drum up a few laughs if built brick by brick.<\/p>\n

One of the more important factors to the Lego<\/em> franchise\u2019s success that is often overlooked is its care for the subject matter. The team behind the Lego<\/em> games ultimately love the source material, and it shows not only in the gameplay but how the characters are handled and represented. It’s even more impressive when considering that Lego<\/em> games have been released<\/a> almost every year since 2005,\u00a0and every single game is just oozing with creativity and passion. If The Mandalorian<\/em> received even a fraction of the attention and care other Lego<\/em> games have, it\u2019s highly likely to be a hit with fans of the series.<\/p>\n

The Mandalorian<\/em> has all the proper prerequisites for a fun Lego<\/em> game. It would line up nicely with the new approach the Lego<\/em> games have been taking with games as of late, especially the open-world approach being continued in the upcoming Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga<\/em><\/a>. Much like the fun to be had when playing with Legos<\/em>, the possibilities would be endless in if this game does actually get made. And what’s more,\u00a0players will more than likely be able to play as Lego Baby Yoda, which is almost enough to warrant the adaptation by itself.<\/p>\n

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>is set to release Spring 2021 for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.<\/p>\n
