Initially <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/star-wars-episode-1-racer-ps4-switch-release-date\/\">released on the PS4 and Switch in June, <em>Star Wars Episode 1: Racer<\/em><\/a>\u00a0is a port of the N64 classic with modernized controls and a better frame rate to handle its high-speed races.<\/p>\n<p>Based on the famous racing scene in <em>The Phantom Menace<\/em>, <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/star-wars-episode-1-racer\/\"><em>Star Wars Episode 1:\u00a0Racer<\/em><\/a> offers several tracks based on classic <em>Star Wars<\/em> locations from the films and books, as well as nearly 20 playable racers and their unique podracers. Each podracer can be upgraded to handle more difficult tracks and tougher opponents.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/star-wars-episode-1-racer-ps4-switch-update-motion-controls-aspyr\/\">Aspyr Updates Star Wars Episode 1: Racer to Fix PS4 and Switch Issues<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>Star Wars Episode 1: Racer<\/em>&#8216;s re-release is\u00a0one of many\u00a0classic <em>Star Wars<\/em> games\u00a0from the 90s being brought to current-gen consoles and PC. Last year,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/star-wars-bounty-hunter-classics-re-releases\/\">Limited Run Games partnered up with Lucasfilm<\/a> to bring a select few back with physical copies, and with\u00a0the launch of\u00a0<em>Star Wars: Battlefront<\/em> by EA in 2015, a\u00a0few classic games were part of a pre-order package on the PlayStation 4. Those games included\u00a0<em>Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter,\u00a0Star Wars: Bounty Hunter,<\/em> and the SNES classic\u00a0<em>Super Star Wars<\/em>. All three games can now be purchased separately on the PS4.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"480\" height=\"270\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/LM5q_i75ngs?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Last\u00a0September\u00a0a <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/star-wars-episode-1-racer-jedi-knight-academy-switch\/\">Nintendo Switch and PS4 version of\u00a0<em>Star Wars: Jedi Academy<\/em><\/a>\u00a0was announced and released\u00a0in early 2020.\u00a0Though this game and others are no longer part of the official <em>Star Wars<\/em> canon, they are part of the &#8220;Legends&#8221; branding.<\/p>\n<p>With EA in partnership with Lucasfilm to make brand new games, EA&#8217;s Respawn Entertainment developed <em>Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order<\/em>. <em>Fallen Order<\/em> quickly became a hit when it launched in late 2019, with many praising its story and characters. Though Respawn did add some smaller updates to the game, <em>Fallen Order<\/em> did not receive any additional story DLC.
