Earning widespread critical acclaim and big sales,\u00a0The Last of Us 2<\/em><\/a> is the long-awaited follow-up to\u00a0the award-winning\u00a0The Last of Us<\/em>. Like the first game,\u00a0The Last of Us 2<\/em> effectively serves as a swan song for its console, standing as one of the last major PS4 exclusive games to be released.<\/p>\n

Like the first game,\u00a0The Last of Us 2<\/em> is like a big budget, story-driven survival-horror game, with players having to conserve ammo and fight off grotesque monsters.\u00a0The Last of Us 2<\/em>‘s combat<\/a> is especially brutal, with players having to commit all kinds of horrific atrocities from the start of the game to the end, but it’s all backed up by an emotionally-powerful narrative.<\/p>\n

In terms of monsters,\u00a0The Last of Us 2<\/em> brings back the Clickers from the first game, which are zombified creatures that are usually blind, but attracted to noise. Clickers in\u00a0The Last of Us 2<\/em><\/a> often pose the greatest threat to Ellie throughout the game, as getting caught by one of them usually means instant death. Human enemies are just as unforgiving in\u00a0The Last of Us 2<\/em> as the Clickers, though, and can kill players in incredibly violent ways.<\/p>\n

Out of all of the enemies players come across in\u00a0The Last of Us 2<\/em>, the scariest is quite likely the Rat King. The Rat King is inspired by the real-world phenomenon of the “rat king,” wherein a bunch of rats get their tales entwined and stuck together.\u00a0The Last of Us 2<\/em>‘s Rat King<\/a> is a huge blob of Clickers and other creatures, and it’s the star of one of what is easily one of the series’ most memorable boss fights to date.<\/p>\n

Thanks to the Rat King and the game’s general brutal tone,\u00a0The Last of Us 2<\/em> succeeds as a horror game. But beyond that, it’s also worth checking out for its quality in general. Few games are as visually-impressive as\u00a0The Last of Us 2<\/em>, and few can match the performances in the game as well.\u00a0While some fans were upset about certain\u00a0Last of Us 2<\/em> story developments<\/a>, many will still be able to appreciate the game’s twists and turns will find it hard to put down.<\/p>\n

Looking ahead, fans can look forward to\u00a0The Last of Us 2<\/em>‘s multiplayer mode<\/a>, which should give the critically-acclaimed game even more replay value.<\/p>\n
