The <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/sea-of-thieves-update-black-market-vaults-of-ancients-dogs\/\">latest <em>Sea of Thieves<\/em> update<\/a> is live now and full of fresh gear, rewards, events, and more for players to uncover.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Fate of the Damned<\/em> is the latest of many content updates for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/sea-of-thieves\/\"><em>Sea of Thieves<\/em><\/a>, most recently including\u00a0<em>Vault of the Ancients<\/em> and\u00a0<em>Ashen Winds<\/em>.\u00a0<em>The Fate of the Damned<\/em> sees the Shadows of Fate spreading across all regions of the world, and only by gathering the Flames of Fate can players make them vulnerable to attack.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/best-worst-pirate-video-games\/\">The 5 Best Video Games About Pirates (&amp; The 5 Worst)<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>According to developer Rare&#8217;s patch notes for the update,\u00a0<em>The Fate of the Damned\u00a0<\/em>challenges will allow players to determine their own rewards, while <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegamer.com\/sea-of-thieves-treasure-vault-voyage-guide\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Larinna&#8217;s voyages<\/a> will determine the fate of others. Meanwhile, the Pirate Emporium will be stocked with\u00a0the Soulflame Ship Collection, new Skeleton Mau and Alsatian pets, spooky\u00a0face paints, skeleton\u2019s arm emotes, and a free Lantern Dance emote.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SeaOfThieves\/status\/1321471558532169728\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The Black Market is also getting new stock, and alongside the update Rare is implementing a host of gameplay tweaks and <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/sea-of-thieves-accessibility-single-analog-stick\/\">accessibility fixes<\/a>. That includes improvements to mysterious notes and in-game event tracking, optimization for the Xbox Series X in preparation for its release, and fixes for lots of gameplay issues.<\/p>\n<p>Here are the full <em>Sea of Thieves &#8211; Fate of the Damned<\/em> patch notes:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gameplay Improvements<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Mysterious Notes<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>When waking up at the start of a session, players may now find Mysterious Notes left beside them. Follow these notes to be directed to the various activities across the Sea of Thieves with each new content update.<\/li>\n<li>When collecting a Mysterious Note, a pop-up will now appear as the note is added to your inventory. All Mysterious Notes collected can be browsed within a new section in the Quest Radial.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>In-Game Event Tracking<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The in-game menu now contains an Events tab, showcasing the current events taking place across the Sea of Thieves and tracking your progress through them.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Flameheart\u2019s Range<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>When a Flameheart Ghost Ship encounter is active, the area in which music and menacing remarks from Flameheart can be heard around the islands has been reduced.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Ashen Lords Balancing<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ashen Lords now have reduced health.<\/li>\n<li>Cashing in an Ashen Winds Skull is now worth double the gold.<\/li>\n<li>When defeating an Ashen Lord, players will be guaranteed a Chest of Rage and a Ritual Skull as rewards, with all rewards gained from this encounter increased in value.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Emergent Captain Balancing<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Skeleton Captains, Key Masters and Guardians that appear emergently on islands have been reduced in difficulty.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Updates<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Oh Gourd!<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>With the Festival of the Damned season in full swing, Outposts are decorated with pumpkins in celebration of the ne\u2019er-forgotten soul of the Ferryman.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Skipping the Intro Cutscene<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Players can now opt to skip the front end intro animation by enabling \u2018Auto-skip Intro Animatic\u2019 in Video Settings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Shark Hunter Ship Set<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The previously unavailable Cannons, Capstan, Figurehead, Flag and Wheel are now purchasable for gold at any Outpost shipwright.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S Optimisations<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Sea of Thieves<\/em> has been optimised in preparation for the next generation of Xbox consoles with Series S and Series X.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Accessibility<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Auto-Move Accessibility<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Players can now bind a key to \u2018Auto Move\u2019, allowing their pirate to move forward in that direction until stopped.<\/li>\n<li>\u2018Auto Move\u2019 functions as expected while traversing land or swimming, but also applies forward motion to actions such as raising the capstan and climbing ladders. While players will still need to interact with these items to begin, the use of \u2018Auto Move\u2019 can remove the need for a held action during the interaction.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Narrate Emotes<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>When \u2018Let Games Read to Me\u2019 is enabled, emotes performed by other pirates will now be narrated and described to the player.<\/li>\n<li>Hiding emotes that hide the player\u2019s gamertag will not be narrated.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Fixed Issues<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Gameplay<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>When performing an emote, you should now consistently perform that action for any players observing you.<\/li>\n<li>When a Megalodon appears alongside a Sloop, it should now circle the ship and more frequently find opportunities to attack while the ship is moving.<\/li>\n<li>Reaper\u2019s Chests earned from the Fort of the Damned should now have a Reaper\u2019s Beacon.<\/li>\n<li>Ashen Artifacts dropped by Ashen Skeletons now provide Emissary Grade progression when taken.<\/li>\n<li>Firebombs should now deal consistent damage to animals.<\/li>\n<li>When a player has acquired the maximum number of food items, the number shown should now be marked in red.<\/li>\n<li>After lighting all the Flame of Fate beacons at the Fort of the Damned, Graymarrow should climb out of the ground instead of appearing from nowhere.<\/li>\n<li>There is now a loading screen while going through the Pirate Legend Hideout waterfall entrance.<\/li>\n<li>When at Ancient Spire Outpost, players should now safely teleport to the intended location.<\/li>\n<li>The Legendary Skeleton Exploder Commendation should now be visible to players in their reputation page under Gunpowder Skeletons in the Bilge Rats tab.<\/li>\n<li>The Commendation counters shown on the reputation pages now more accurately represent players\u2019 progress with a Trading Company.<\/li>\n<li>Quickly pressing the primary use button\/key while holding a pet should no longer disable the \u2018give pet\u2019 animation.<\/li>\n<li>The \u2018Drop Capstan\u2019 tutorial prompt now resets properly if the player\u2019s ship sinks while on-screen within the radius of the Maiden Voyage island.<\/li>\n<li>When playing with Korean language settings, players are once again able to offer their soul to the Ferryman to skip the revival duration.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Ancient Treasure Vaults<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Ancient Vault Key will now disappear once the Vault is complete.<\/li>\n<li>If an Ancient Vault is active, that Vault will no longer be selected for use in another crew\u2019s Tall Tale.<\/li>\n<li>If an Ancient Vault becomes active, other crews will be notified that the Vault is unavailable when approaching the door.<\/li>\n<li>Rowboats should no longer clip through the Ancient Vault door.<\/li>\n<li>It should now be less likely for players to have more than one torn map piece per island.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Tall Tales<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>\u2018Heart of Fire\u2019<\/strong> \u2013 The lever in Stitcher Jim\u2019s Hideout now works repeatedly as intended.<\/li>\n<li><strong>\u2018Heart of Fire\u2019<\/strong> \u2013 Dying and then being revived in lava now properly kills the revived player again.<\/li>\n<li><strong>\u2018Heart of Fire\u2019<\/strong> \u2013 This Tall Tale no longer shows as \u2018New\u2019 in the Tall Tales tab.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Pirate Emporium<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Switching currency should now properly update the price in the item preview window.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Environment<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Emergent locations on Discovery Ridge for animal crates and Gunpowder Barrels have been updated to ensure they can be reached by players.<\/li>\n<li>When engaging the Skeleton Fort on Sailor\u2019s Knot Stronghold, upon reaching the Skeleton Lord players should no longer become stuck in the Fort wall during combat.<\/li>\n<li>The rocks near Dagger Tooth Outpost now have appropriate collisions.<\/li>\n<li>Players can no longer get stuck in the Pirate Legend Hideout and appear in the sea near the Sea Dogs\u2019 Arena.<\/li>\n<li>Players should no longer be safe teleported when moving around the Vault entrances.<\/li>\n<li>The walls of the tunnel outside the Vault on Mermaid\u2019s Hideaway should be visible at all times.<\/li>\n<li>The corrupt textures in the Kraken\u2019s Fall Vault have been removed.<\/li>\n<li>The dust\/rock VFX will no longer be floating near the Kraken\u2019s Fall Vault rock door.<\/li>\n<li>Players should no longer be able to dig the ground inside the weapon and equipment shops on Outposts.<\/li>\n<li>There is no longer a hole in the western rock outcrop on Shores of Gold.<\/li>\n<li>The skull lamp at Marauder\u2019s Arch should now be attached to a post and no longer floating in mid-air.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Visual and Audio<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>When following an \u2018X Marks the Spot\u2019 Map, the \u2018thunk\u2019 sound can now be heard upon digging at the right location.<\/li>\n<li>When the Ashen Curse is equipped, it should now appear while on the Ferry of the Damned.<\/li>\n<li>The Hunter Figurehead, Crab Figurehead and Parrot Figurehead now have the correct icons when viewed in the Ship Customisation Chest.<\/li>\n<li>Players should now be able to scroll down to the last option on the Video Settings page.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The Arena<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The last crew to vote for the migration after the contest will no longer be stuck on the \u2018recording results\u2019 message and instead migrate as intended.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Custom Servers<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Steam players should now be able to join an active custom server after receiving an invite.<\/li>\n<li>Players should no longer be able to browse the store at North Star Seapost while on a Custom Server.<\/li>\n<li>Players should no longer be able to browse Larinna\u2019s Black Market while on a Custom Server.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Steam<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Players who unlocked incorrect achievements on Steam before June 3rd 2020 will now have the incorrect achievements removed upon next login (but if the achievement was legitimately earned since then it will stay).<\/li>\n<li>Players who have not had their Xbox achievements carried over to Steam will find their achievements correctly synchronised when logging in following the <em>Fate of the Damned<\/em> update.<\/li>\n<li>When attempting to join a game without an invite on Steam, players will now be shown the correct notification message.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Performance and Stability<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Improvements to server performance reducing latency, lag spikes, \u2018rubberbanding\u2019 and server correction during gameplay.<\/li>\n<li>Improved client stability when loading into The Arena tavern upon selecting Duo Sloop Open Crew.<\/li>\n<li>Improved client stability when idling on the Ferry of the Damned for an extended duration.<\/li>\n<li>Improved server stability when progressing through Tall Tales.<\/li>\n<li>Improved Xbox loading times from when a player sets sail on the front end to when they arrive in the world.<\/li>\n<li>Improved and optimised client performance.<\/li>\n<li>Optimised a range of islands across The Devil\u2019s Roar to improve client performance.<\/li>\n<li>Camera movement should now feel smoother when using the mouse and keyboard on Xbox consoles.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em><strong>Sea of Thieves<\/strong><\/em> is available now\u00a0on PC and Xbox
