When Sony unveiled the PlayStation 5’s accessories, many PlayStation VR owners understandably assumed that the PS5 camera would be compatible with their current headset. That turned out not to be the case<\/a>, though some learned that after the camera went on sale alongside the soon-to-release console. Sony is making good by allowing PS VR owners to request a PlayStation 5 camera adapter free of charge.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n The PS5 camera adapter connects the existing PlayStation camera (for PS4) to a PlayStation 5, allowing PS VR to work on the next-gen console. Sony is NOT giving away a PlayStation 5 camera, just to be clear. While this solves the camera issue, keep in mind that you\u2019ll still need a DualShock 4\/PlayStation Move controllers to play current PS VR games on PS5. The new DualSense won\u2019t work.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n To get your PS5 camera adapter, first you\u2019ll need to have your PS VR serial number ready. It can be found on the headset’s black processor unit, near the connector ports. Then, head over to Sony\u2019s support website<\/a> and paste it into the form. Once your headset is verified, you\u2019ll enter your shipping address and basic info, and that\u2019s presumably it.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n The webpage\u2019s FAQ <\/a>explains that adapters are limited to 1-per-household. Shipping times vary by region, with adapters in the Americas, Europe, and most other regions going out mid-November. Adapters for Asia ship mid-December. Once shipped, it will take up to 2 weeks for delivery. That means U.S. citizens should expect their adapter to arrive late November\/early December-ish. Thankfully, there\u2019s no shipping fee either.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n This is a cool move for PS VR owners who made an easy but unfortunate mistake.
