Xbox fans were likely shocked when it was announced that they would finally be able to play\u00a02018’s\u00a0Tetris Effect\u00a0<\/em>on their Xbox console<\/a> of choice back in July. Not only were players getting the opportunity to play the game for the first time on Xbox consoles, but they were being treated to an updated version of the game called\u00a0Tetris Effect: Connected\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>that features upgraded visual fidelity and multiplayer. And as the release of the Xbox Series X seems to be getting closer by the second, some of the developers for\u00a0Tetris Effect: Connected\u00a0<\/em>revealed details about how the game has been optimized for Xbox Series X.<\/p>\n

In a recent interview with Xbox Wire,\u00a0Tomohiro Tatejima (Multiplayer Lead Game Designer at Enhance), Takanori Uchida (Technical Director at Monstars), and Yasuyuki Togo (Project Manager at Monstars)\u00a0<\/em>discussed what it was like working on Tetris Effect: Connected<\/em><\/a> for the Xbox Series X. In particular, the devs noted that they were most impressed with the layer of detail they were able to accomplish with particle effects on Xbox Series X when it came to the game’s visuals.\u00a0Uchida went on to praise the beauty of the updated game, saying that after players experience it on the Series X, he doubts players will “be able to play it on anything besides” the console.<\/p>\n

The devs also noted how much they enjoy developing for the Xbox Series X as well. Togo and Uchida stated that the team has had an easier time performing trial-and-error during development thanks to the Series X’s faster loading times<\/a>. They went into detail further by saying that the console’s architecture allowed them to meet their visual goals without any hinderence.<\/p>\n

The praise these devs gave to the new Xbox is not an isolated case. At the beginning of October, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford praised both the Xbox Series X and PS5<\/a> saying the new hardware will be one of the biggest leaps in the history of console generations, likening it to the jump from 2D to 3D.<\/p>\n

While it remains to be seen how\u00a0Tetris Effect: Connected\u00a0<\/em>will do when it releases alongside the Xbox Series X, it seems likely that it could be a great launch title. When\u00a0Tetris Effect\u00a0<\/em>came out in 2018, it was met with overwhelmingly positive reviews and Game of the Year nominations<\/a> from various outlets. It seems that while\u00a0Connected\u00a0<\/em>is adding new features to the game, it will likely still be the same\u00a0Tetris Effect\u00a0<\/em>that players fell in love with two years ago.<\/p>\n

Tetris Effect: Connected\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>will release on November 10, 2020, for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.<\/p>\n
