The iconic games were\u00a0given a fresh coat of paint and looked fantastic on the latest consoles.\u00a0<em>Spyro Reignited Trilogy<\/em> followed in\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/crash-bandicoot-series-ranked-difficulty\/?fbclid=IwAR3pQ_4417HFHYUw0N-C3tXzn3IXaFMK10L_ZI24nOTqQZ_ZfmP5fH_aczo\">Crash Bandicoot N. Since\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/crash-bandicoot-4-memes\/?fbclid=IwAR0ZbDIN_ju_7lnL0LLBkqV4YgPM-9xCCPtj4eaD5Sc4BULRo3D-rXrxLxk\"><em>Crash 4<\/em><\/a> was developed\u00a0&amp; published by the same teams that made the\u00a0<em>Reignited Trilogy,<\/em>\u00a0fans have hope that the purple dragon will be getting a new game of his own. The hype surrounding a new <em>Spyro<\/em>\u00a0will likely have fans itching to play similar games in the meantime.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Updated February 16, 2021, by Jack Pursey:<\/strong><\/em> The previously mentioned prediction that\u00a0<em>Crash Bandicoot 4: It&#8217;s About Time\u00a0<\/em>would open the door for a new\u00a0<em>Spyro the Dragon\u00a0<\/em>game picked up pace at the end of 2020 when an\u00a0art book for the\u00a0latest\u00a0<em>Crash\u00a0<\/em>game <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/spyro-4-teaser-crash-bandicoot\/\">hinted at a return for the purple dragon<\/a>. The revelation has unsurprisingly excited fans that Activision has signed off on a return for Spyro, though an official announcement is still yet to be made. So, until the announcement (hopefully) arrives, why not try out some similar titles?<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">15 <\/span>New Super Lucky&#8217;s Tale<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static1.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/New-Super-Luckys-Tale-PS4-Xbox-One.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Playful Studios&#8217;<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/super-luckys-tale\/\"><em> New Super Lucky&#8217;s Tal<\/em>e<\/a> is an enhanced version of 2017&#8217;s\u00a0<em>Super Lucky&#8217;s Tale.\u00a0<\/em>The game makes numerous changes from the original, including a much-needed camera fix and improvements to the level design.<\/p>\n<p><em>New Super Lucky&#8217;s Tale<\/em> is a <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/casual-rpg-games\/\">great choice for casual players<\/a> as the game doesn&#8217;t try to challenge them with an influx of enemies or challenging platforming sections. However, the game isn&#8217;t insultingly easy, as not only will <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/hardest-puzzle-games\/\">some of the puzzles have players scratching their heads<\/a>, but completing\u00a0<em>New Super Lucky&#8217;s Tale\u00a0<\/em>100% is no easy feat.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">14 <\/span>The Lego games<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static0.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Lego-Star-Wars-The-Complete-Saga.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p>In 2005, Traveller&#8217;s Tales crafted an enjoyable collectathon formula with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/LEGO%20Star%20Wars\/\"><em>LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game<\/em><\/a>\u00a0that has been reused many times to great success since. The\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/LEGO\/\">LEGO<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>games are considered today to be a cornerstone of casual gaming, as not only are they great fun to pick up and play with a friend, but every game comes equipped with a fantastic reward system that encourages players to 100% each game, much like the\u00a0<em>Spyro<\/em>\u00a0series<em>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\">RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/video-games-look-forward-if-loved-spyro\/\">10 Video Games To Look Forward To If You Loved Spyro<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The games all feature a similar gameplay style, so deciding which\u00a0<em>LEGO\u00a0<\/em>title\u00a0to play is as simple as picking which\u00a0set of characters you most want to see reimagined in brick form.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">13 <\/span>A Hat in Time<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static2.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/a-hat-in-time.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p>Gears for Breakfast&#8217;s platforming adventure <em>A Hat in Time\u00a0<\/em>was initially released on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 in 2017 before coming to Nintendo Switch two years later. The game is reminiscent of the\u00a0classic\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/banjo%20kazooie\/\">Banjo-Kazooie<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>with its large, open levels filled with tons to do and collect.<\/p>\n<p><em>A Hat In Time\u00a0<\/em>was fairly well-received by critics, exemplified by its Metascores, which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.metacritic.com\/game\/pc\/a-hat-in-time\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ranged from 74 to 79 across its four releases<\/a>. Praise from critics was directed towards the level and <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/ps4-games-best-art-direction\/\">art design<\/a>,\u00a0along with the heartwarming character models.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">12 <\/span>Sackboy: A Big Adventure<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static1.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/3-Sackboy-A-Big-Adventure.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/LittleBigPlanet\/\">LittleBigPlanet<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>spin-off, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/Sackboy:%20A%20Big%20Adventure\/\">Sackboy: A Big Adventure<\/a><\/em>, was released on the PlayStation 4 and as a launch title for the PlayStation 5. The game received a warm reception from critics, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.metacritic.com\/game\/playstation-5\/sackboy-a-big-adventure\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">achieving Metascores of 83 and 79<\/a> on the two Sony consoles respectively.<\/p>\n<p>The game differents itself from\u00a0the\u00a0<em>LittleBigPlanet\u00a0<\/em>titles\u00a0by switching the 2.5D perspective for fully 3D\u00a0views and movement but keeps the level variety that made the games so special.\u00a0<em>Sackboy: A Big Adventure<\/em>&#8216;s vast range of playstyles and objectives helps the platformer stand out and ensures that the gameplay never becomes stale.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">11 <\/span>Psychonauts<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static3.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Psychonauts-Cropped.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p>The cult classic platformer, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/Psychonauts\/\">Psychonauts<\/a><\/em>, was released in 2005 and differentiated itself from other\u00a0titles in its genre with unique gameplay mechanics centered around the playable character&#8217;s psychic abilities; Raz can use invisibility, telekinesis, levitation, and other powers obtained throughout the game to help him on his journey.<\/p>\n<p><em>Psychonauts<\/em> is another IP<em>,\u00a0<\/em>along with\u00a0<em>Spyro\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0<em>Crash Bandicoot,\u00a0<\/em>that may spark a resurgence of the platforming genre, as\u00a0Xbox Game\u00a0Studios recently announced that they&#8217;re teaming up with Double Fine to release <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/Psychonauts%202\/\"><em>Psychonauts 2<\/em><\/a>\u00a0sometime this year.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">10 <\/span>Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static1.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/crash-nsane-trilogy-1.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p>Spyro and Crash have gone hand in hand for many years.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/playstation-one-hidden-gems-underrated-games\/\">From the PlayStation 1 games<\/a> when hidden demos appeared on their counterparts discs, to the recent <em>Crash 4\u00a0<\/em>where Spyro\u00a0appears as an inflatable ring and balloon float.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<em>N. Sane Trilogy<\/em>\u00a0mixes platforming with collectathon gameplay, just like <em>Spyro<\/em>. The levels are considerably more focused on platforming, but each\u00a0stage has many boxes to smash for a clear gem, and some have hidden colored gems to find.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">9 <\/span>Yooka-Laylee<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static1.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/yooka-laylee.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p>A spiritual successor to <em>Banjo-Kazooie<\/em>, <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/Yooka-Laylee\/\"><em>Yooka-Laylee<\/em><\/a> was met with a lukewarm reception upon release. The game wasn&#8217;t bad by any means, but it failed to live up to its\u00a0high expectations. Despite this setback,\u00a0<em>Yooka-Laylee<\/em> is still one of the best collectathons released in recent years.<\/p>\n<p>Each level is littered with collectibles to find, such as Pagies, Ghost Quills, and Ghost Writers. The game has since received a sequel, although it\u00a0featured a drastic change in playstyle.\u00a0<em>Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair<\/em> plays more like <em>Donkey Kong Country<\/em>\u00a0&amp;\u00a0<em>Rayman Origins\u00a0<\/em>and was well-received upon release.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">8 <\/span>Sly Cooper And The Thievius Raccoonus<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static1.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/sly-cooper.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/Sly%20Cooper\/\"><em>Sly Cooper<\/em><\/a> mixes two of the most polar opposite genres in gaming, platforming, and stealth. Despite this contrast, it&#8217;s an absolute joy to play. Sane Trilogy<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Slipping past guards isn&#8217;t the thing that players need to be wary of,\u00a0as each level has hidden clue bottles to collect. Any of the <em>Sly Cooper<\/em> games are worth a try, but the original game is still the best of the bunch.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">7 <\/span>Ratchet And Clank: Going Commando<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static3.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/going-commando.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p>Like the <em>Sly Cooper<\/em> series, <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/ratchet-and-clank-games-ranked-according-metacritic\/\">all of the <em>Ratchet and Clank<\/em> games are worth playing.<\/a> The\u00a0series is\u00a0made by Insomniac Games, the same developers\u00a0as the original <em>Spyro the Dragon<\/em> trilogy, who are best known today for their work on the recent\u00a0<em>Spider-Man<\/em> titles.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/Ratchet%20and%20Clank\/\"><em>Ratchet and Clank<\/em><\/a>&#8216;s gunplay is radically different from Spyro&#8217;s combat, but the game draws similarities with its\u00a0many platforming sections and collectathon gameplay, as there are a plethora of bolts\u00a0to collect in each level that can be used to purchase new weapons.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">6 <\/span>SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom \u2013 Rehydrated<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static1.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/battle-for-bikini-bottom.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p>SpongeBob&#8217;s 6th gen cult classic was given the remaster treatment at the start of 2020. The game lets players control SpongeBob, Patrick, and Sandy as they try to stop Plankton and his robot minions. The\u00a0levels occur in some of the show&#8217;s most iconic locations, such as Goo Lagoon, Rock Bottom, and Jellyfish fields. <em>Battle for Bikini Bottom<\/em> is remembered fondly for its excellent boss fights and open levels with much to collect.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">5 <\/span>Ty The Tasmanian Tiger<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static0.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/ty-the-tasmanian-tiger-1.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/Ty%20The%20Tasmanian%20Tiger\/\"><em>Ty The Tasmanian Tiger<\/em><\/a> is structured similarly to\u00a0both <em>Spyro<\/em> and <em>Crash Bandicoot<\/em>. The game has multiple zones, each made up of three portals that lead to its levels. Each level\u00a0tasks players with collecting Thunder Eggs. These eggs are collected by completing objectives, freeing Bilbies, beating the time attack mode, or simply finding them within the level. Once 17 are collected, players can take on one of the game&#8217;s bosses before reaching a new zone.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">4 <\/span>Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear To The Rescue<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static3.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/toy-story-2-game.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p>Much like the original\u00a0<em>Spyro<\/em> trilogy,\u00a0<em>Toy Story 2\u00a0<\/em>pushed the PS1&#8217;s capabilities to the limit with some of the best open levels available on the console. These tokens are usually collected by defeating mini-bosses, solving puzzles, winning races, or completing various objectives. There are also 5 boss levels in the game. The boss stages are all great fun and offer welcome variety to the movie tie-in.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">3 <\/span>Banjo-Kazooie<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static3.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Banjo-Kazooie.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p>Rare isn&#8217;t just known for pioneering the FPS genre with <em>GoldenEye<\/em>. They were also a key player in the rise of collectathon games with\u00a0<em>Banjo-Kazooie<\/em>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/n64-hidden-gems\/\">on the Nintendo 64.<\/a>\u00a0<em>Banjo-Kazooie<\/em> has nine different worlds, each littered with collectibles.\u00a0Among these collectibles are Musical Notes, Feathers, Honeycombs, and Jiggies. These Jiggies are key to completing the game as they complete portal-like puzzles that give players access to new worlds. The worlds still have some of the <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/most-underrated-platformers-n64-overrated\/\">smartest level designs available in gaming today.<\/a><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">2 <\/span>Jak And Daxter: The Precursor Legacy<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static2.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/jak-and-daxter-1.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p>Like many games on this list,<em> The Precursor Legacy<\/em>\u00a0is not only very similar to Spyro in playstyle, but it is also a fantastic game in its own right. Like <em>Spyro<\/em>, players need to complete objectives in each stage. Furthermore, levels are littered with collectibles known as Precursor orbs. These orbs\u00a0are very similar to Spyro&#8217;s gems.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/jak-daxter-4-development-secrets\/\"><em>Jak 2<\/em> and <em>Jak 3<\/em> are also great games<\/a>, but the original game is\u00a0the best fit as it focused on platforming rather than action.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">1 <\/span>Super Mario Odyssey<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static0.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/super-mario-odyssey.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p>Realistically, <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/mario-most-difficult-games-ranked\/\">any of Mario&#8217;s 3D adventures<\/a> could have featured on this list. <em><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/Super%20Mario%2064\/\">Super Mario 64<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/Super%20Mario%20sunshine\/\">Sunshine<\/a>, <\/em>and <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/Super%20Mario%20galaxy\/\"><em>Galaxy<\/em><\/a> are all amazing games to check out as well. <em>Odyssey\u00a0<\/em>tops the pile for the sheer number of moons to collect in the game.<\/p>\n<p>The moons are similar to stars from the previous games, and there\u00a0are a whopping 880 to collect. This makes <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/super-mario-odyssey-hardest-bosses-beat\/\"><em>Super Mario Odyssey<\/em><\/a> not only Mario&#8217;s biggest adventure yet but also one of the most packed collectathons ever.
