Their disappointment stems from\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/cyberpunk-2077\/\"><em>Cyberpunk 2077<\/em><\/a>\u00a0being probably the most-anticipated upcoming game at the moment, and it\u00a0seems to extend beyond players into companies like Arc System Works as well. This may have been the reason that Arc System Works&#8217; official Twitter\u00a0created a post making fun of the delay, which it has since deleted.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/cyberpunk-2077-delay-why\/\">Cyberpunk 2077 Current-Gen Versions Likely Reason for Delay<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Arc System Works has issued a formal apology for the tweet. Responses from commenters have largely been confused over the reason for the deletion, or stating\u00a0it was unnecessary. This is what was tweeted originally, poking fun at\u00a0<em>Cyberpunk<\/em><em> 2077<\/em>&#8216;s delay post:<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static2.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/arcsystemworks-cyberpunk-2077-tweet.jpg\"\/><\/figure>\n<p>The joke is not particularly offensive, and is not particularly funny either. However, in light of the <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/cyberpunk-2077-delay-death-threats\/\">death threats CD Projekt Red devs have been getting<\/a>\u00a0because of the delay, making fun of it does seem to be in poor taste. While a major hoopla was probably not warranted, Arc System Works&#8217; apology is commendable.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ArcSystemWorksU\/status\/1321501014789246977\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Many of the complaints directed at Arc System Works are not over the CD Projekt Red tweet and apology, but rather that this has not happen more often. Specifically, many are upset that Arc System Works was willing to retract and apologize for its former\u00a0licentious behavior. Many tweets from Arc System Works were focused on sexualizing and drooling over female characters from its games, similar to an uncomfortable situation from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegamer.com\/samurai-shodown-iroha-twitter-controversy\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">SNK&#8217;s Twitter regarding <em>Samurai Shodown<\/em><\/a>.\u00a0Comments\u00a0point out that thirsty posts are often more harmful to the community than a joke that doesn&#8217;t land, and has nothing to do with Arc System Works&#8217; games.<\/p>\n<p>The delay has been hard on many, from the developers to players eagerly awaiting\u00a0<em>Cyberpunk 2077<\/em>. It adds a new sting to the already problematic crunch situation at CD Projekt Red, and stirs up bad feelings all around. It probably didn&#8217;t help that <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/cd-projekt-red-developers-cyber-punk-2077-delay-today\/\">the <em>Cyberpunk 2077<\/em> devs found out about the delay at the same time as players<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It seems that Arc System Works&#8217; Twitter has\u00a0returned to its more relevant posts. While community gags\u00a0can be fun, it&#8217;s probably best that not every Twitter attempts the kind of humor some have made work.
