Costumed Gengar and Sableye have been introduced to the game alongside several other ghostly bonuses and events, some of which have yet to take place.<\/p>\n<p>Alolan Marowak Raid Day is one such event. The special day was originally announced in\u00a0a Niantic post detailing Halloween happenings in\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/pokemon-go\"><em>Pokemon<\/em> <em>GO<\/em><\/a>, but aside from a time and date,\u00a0the event has remained relatively unexplained until today.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/pokemon-go-free-rocket-radar-bundle\/\">Pokemon GO: Free Rocket Radar Bundle Available in Shop<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Niantic&#8217;s official support account has shared two <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/pokemon-go-alolan-marowak-counter-catch\/\">important Alolan Marowak Raid Day details<\/a> via Twitter:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Players will be able to receive up to five free Raid Passes from Gyms on Alolan Marowak Raid Day (October 31, 2020).<\/li>\n<li>A free box containing\u00a0three Remote Raid Passes\u00a0will be available in the in-game shop from Friday, October 30 at 1:00 p.m. PT, to Sunday, November 1 at 1:00 p.m. PT.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Using these free\u00a0Raid Passes alone, Trainers have the opportunity to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegamer.com\/pokemon-go-halloween-2020\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">challenge eight different Alolan Marowak this Halloween<\/a>, which should provide a fair shot at encountering a Shiny. Although Shiny appearance rates won&#8217;t be boosted on Alolan Marowak Raid Day, Alolan Marowak itself features a boosted rate because of its status as a Raid-only Pokemon. While not all Pokemon available from Raids alone feature a boosted Shiny rate, a large portion of them do.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NianticHelp\/status\/1321859339989274631?s=20\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Alolan Marowak is\u00a0a <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/pokemon-go-galarian-ponyta-sirfetchd\/\">regional Pokemon variant, like Galarian Ponyta<\/a>\u00a0or Alolan Raichu. This means that it&#8217;s a distinct version of an existing Pokemon species, in this case from Kanto. These regional variants often feature changes to the original species, like different typing and movesets. Marowak sheds its\u00a0Ground typing and becomes\u00a0a\u00a0Ghost\/Fire-type\u00a0under tropical Alolan conditions.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/pokemon-go-aloha-forms-faqs\/\">Players can&#8217;t transform\u00a0Pokemon\u00a0into their Alolan\u00a0forms by travel<\/a>; these are &#8220;evolutions&#8221; in the real-world sense of the word. An Alolan Marowak must be captured as an Alolan Marowak,\u00a0or evolve from Cubone who originate in Alola.<\/p>\n<p>Given that\u00a0<em>Pokemon GO<\/em> is tied to the actual map of Earth, rather than the Pokemon universe, players are unable to travel to Alola. Instead, Niantic gives players a chance to encounter and capture Alolan Marowak in challenging four-star Raid Battles. Players are also\u00a0always able to\u00a0encounter the Shiny form of this Alolan variant at an increased rate.<\/p>\n<p>Independent researchers The Silph Road have confirmed Shiny Alolan Marowak to have an approximately 1-in-60 encounter rate.
