Genshin Impact<\/strong><\/em> recently\u00a0released a new promotional video detailing aspects of the game’s upcoming update, some of which\u00a0are expected, like\u00a0new characters, and\u00a0others, entirely surprising. Along with new characters, events, and quests, players\u00a0can\u00a0apparently look forward to a cameo from\u00a0developer miHoYo’s President Forrest Liu.<\/p>\n

miHoYo announced that the new content coming to\u00a0Genshin Impact<\/em><\/a> would certainly include exciting never-before-seen quests,\u00a0characters, and challenges, but an IGN interview has confirmed that one of the new “things” in question is a\u00a0unique monster based on the company’s own president. Producer and CEO Hugh Tsai confirmed that there\u00a0would be a new special sort of hilichurl\u00a0present in the game’s Version 1.1 update.<\/p>\n

Tsai revealed that one of the\u00a0Genshin Impact<\/em> Version 1.1 features<\/a> would be a new monster, designed by the miHoYo team “as an in-game cameo of [their] company president, Forrest Liu, in hilichurl form.” The Forrest Hilichurl will apparently be appearing once the new update is available, though players remain uncertain if this will be a permanent feature or not. After all, Forrest Hilichurl could simply be a fun play on words and continue to exist as a plant-magic wielding hilichurl, or, it could appear as a\u00a0limited-time-only\u00a0hidden opponent.<\/p>\n

Aside from the Forrest Hilichurl, players can anticipate meeting new playable\u00a0Genshin Impact<\/em> characters<\/a> like Childe, Diona,\u00a0 Xinyan, and Zhongli, all of\u00a0who\u00a0were introduced by\u00a0the Version 1.1 trailer. Although players also don’t know which of these characters will be officially promoted via “banner,”\u00a0it’s generally accepted that they’ll all be making their playable debuts with the November 11th update.<\/p>\n

The inclusion of Forrest Hilichurl would mark the tenth sort of\u00a0encounterable hilichurl in\u00a0Genshin Impact<\/em><\/a>.\u00a0<\/em>These goblin-esque mask-wearing creatures inhabit all of Teyvat, and appear in various forms that wield varying weapons and Elemental abilities. Although there’s already a Dendro-aligned hilichurl (Dendro being the game’s plant-based magic,)\u00a0it’s technically one of the more powerful, small-framed, samachurls,\u00a0which\u00a0wield staffs. A Forrest Hilichurl could manifest itself as a physical Dendro-aligned attacker, for example.<\/p>\n

This announcement also begs the question: will the Forrest Hilichurl be a new boss-like threat, or simply a common grunt? The fact it’s a “special” monster could\u00a0imply all sorts of different things,\u00a0but unfortunately, Travelers will have to wait for the update<\/a> to finally see for themselves. miHoYo’s Tsai invites fans to hunt down this new hilichurl in moments of exasperation, and gives his blessing to those who wish to take out their frustrations on it; once they’ve first voiced concerns via the Feedback function, that is.<\/p>\n

Genshin Impact<\/strong><\/em> is available now on the App Store, Google Play, PC, and PS4, and is currently in development for PS5 and Switch.<\/p>\n
