Confirming the news, his son Jason Connery said he died peacefully in his sleep surrounded by family members in the Bahamas after being unwell for some time.<\/p>\n<p>Current James Bond producers\u00a0Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli said they were both devastated by the news. In a statement they said &#8220;he was and shall always be remembered as the original James Bond whose indelible entrance into cinema history began when he announced those unforgettable words <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/daniel-craig-advice-for-the-next-james-bond-no-time-to-die\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">&#8216;the name&#8217;s Bond&#8230; James Bond&#8217;.<\/a>&#8220;<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/best-james-bond-video-games-metacritic\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">10 Best James Bond Video Games (According to Metacritic)<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Born Thomas Sean Connery in Edinburgh, Scotland on Aug 25 1930, Connery worked many jobs during his youth, driving trucks, polishing coffins and bricklaying before joining the Royal Navy at 16. A keen soccer player, he was offered the chance to play professionally at Manchester United but instead he chose acting.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"480\" height=\"270\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/b15-P12gIf0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>After acting on the stage for several years, Connery soon gained his first feature film role in 1954&#8217;s <em>Lilacs in the Spring<\/em>, renamed <em>Let&#8217;s Make Up<\/em> in the U.S., before appearing in various film and TV productions.
