Despite the undeniable excitement for the soon-to-be-released PlayStation 5,\u00a0<\/strong>not everyone is thrilled with its all-white coloring. Back when the console was revealed, there was a very blatant demand for alternate PS5 colors<\/a>, with fans throwing out suggestions for black PS5s and even ones themed around certain games.<\/p>\n

Noticing this demand, a third-party company named PlateStation 5<\/a> began offering custom-made faceplates. Since the PS5’s faceplates can be removed, these alternate plates can be attached in their place and the company has already sold out of its plates, which it hopes to have shipped in time for the\u00a0console’s release.<\/p>\n

However, it unsurprisingly caught the attention of Sony itself and, following a trademark dispute, it has had to completely rebrand, changing its name to CustomizeMyPlates, according to an official statement sent to VGC. Fortunately, that appears to be all that’s changed as it’s still able to sell the plates and is even now offering more products, like custom-made black skins for the PS5’s DualSense controller<\/a> and custom skins for the Xbox Series X controller as well.<\/p>\n

It’s likely that, despite never initially claiming to be selling official Sony products, the original name and use of the PS5’s image may have given the impression that it was. With this new rebrand, it’s now abundantly clear that the company is not affiliated with Sony.<\/p>\n

As for the plates, CustomizeMyPlates promises that it will accept refunds if anyone isn’t happy with the product, though there doesn’t appear to be any word if it intends to restock in the future. Given the obvious popularity, it hopefully will.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, there’s no word on if Sony intends to offer official option faceplates for the PS5 or sell it in alternate colors. Back in August, a black DualSense controller<\/a> was apparently leaked, which would indicate that a black PS5 exists. However, there is doubt surrounding the legitimacy of the images, as it’s possible that they’re of a prototype before Sony finalized on the console’s white coloring.<\/p>\n

Some people won’t even be able to get a PS5 anyway by the time it comes out due to the limited amount of pre-orders that were made available, which were also abruptly announced with no warning, sending eager fans into a desperate and mad rush.<\/p>\n

According to a Best Buy ad, though, both the PS5 and Xbox Series X\/S consoles will be available on Black Friday<\/a>, which is on November 27 this year.<\/p>\n

In other news, while the PS5 is looking to be the more popular choice among the new consoles in America, the Xbox Series X is outselling it<\/a> in China, New Zealand, and Mexico.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0PlayStation 5\u00a0<\/strong>will release on November 12th.<\/p>\n
