While Crytek has been hard at work refining the intense online game Hunt: Showdown<\/em>, as well as making Hunt<\/em>\u2019s currently delayed Halloween event<\/a> accessible to console players, documents have leaked regarding the studio\u2019s future projects. While it is unclear how recent the documents were gathered and how reliable the leak is, the most interesting information is related to the Crysis<\/em> IP, as Crytek supposedly has both a VR Crysis<\/em> game and a battle royale in the works.<\/p>\n

The Crysis<\/em> series could certainly use some positive news, as the once-loved benchmark game recently received a messy remaster. Crysis Remastered<\/em> received mostly negative reviews<\/a> due to no changes being made to its dated gameplay, numerous bugs, and inconsistent graphics improvements. With the game being more of a visual reimagining than an upgrade, even its biggest selling point has left fans a bit disappointed.<\/p>\n

Still, the concept of a Crysis<\/em> battle royale game is interesting. There is no denying that that battle royales have changed the gaming industry<\/a>, and love them or hate them, plenty more are likely to be released as time goes on. This specific battle royale game that Crytek is possibly developing is titled Crysis<\/em> Next<\/em>, with its main draws being \u201c100s of players\u201d and the \u201cadaptive nanosuit powers\u201d that the series is known for. Crytek also seems to be aiming the game at popular streamers, as the \u201cfree to play battle royale\u201d will feature \u201cthe ultimate live streaming experience.\u201d<\/p>\n

With another leaker recently stating that future entries in the Crysis<\/em> series would move away from singleplayer offerings and a story focus, this description of Crysis Next<\/em> adds up. Intriguingly, a battle royale based on the Xbox One launch game Ryse<\/em><\/a> may be in development as well. With a game called Ryse Next<\/em> being mentioned in the leaked documents, and the \u201cNext\u201d subtitle being shared by the supposed Crysis<\/em> battle royale, the only assumption to make is that players could one day get to experience a battle royale game set in Ancient Rome if the leaks are true.<\/p>\n

The documents also mention Crysis VR<\/em>, though the demo supposedly made the developers testing the game \u201cviolently sick.\u201d It is unclear if the project continued, though another VR project was listed in the leak as well: Robinson 2<\/em>. Considered by some to be one of the worst games of 2016<\/a>, the original Robinson<\/em> failed to live up to the hype set by its original trailer.<\/p>\n

Hopefully, if this sequel truly comes, it keeps the original\u2019s gorgeous visuals and drops the mind-numbing puzzles and motion controls. It is worth noting, however, that this Robinson<\/em> sequel and any other games mentioned in the leak could have been canceled or redesigned heavily. Further, one of the original people posting about the documents even questions the legitimacy of parts of the leak, so the information should be taken with a grain of salt.<\/p>\n
