After their season 2 wrapped up, <em><strong>The Mandalorian<\/strong><\/em> was supposed to pick up the mantle and maybe pose a slight challenge up top, but turns out that might be harder than expected.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/the-mandalorian\/\"><em>The Mandalorian<\/em><\/a> made its debut as part of the initial Disney+ lineup, leading the charge as the platform\u2019s biggest original production and service seller.\u00a0Since then it\u2019s grown to be one of television\u2019s most popular shows, receiving positive reviews for its plot development and quite a lot of praise for <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/the-mandalorian-season-2-efffects-vfx\/\">its revolutionary use of technology in filming<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/the-mandalorian-star-wars-knights-of-the-old-republic-easter-egg\/\">The Mandalorian Season 2 Premiere Has Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Easter Egg<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>All that might not be enough to challenge Netflix\u2019s constant delivery of shows or even the share of streaming capped by <em>The Boys<\/em>, because according to Reelgood, <em>The Mandalorian\u2019s<\/em> season 2 premiere scooped 5.7% of streaming attention this past weekend, barely losing out to <em>The Boys<\/em>\u2019 5.8% on that same occasion.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"480\" height=\"270\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/eW7Twd85m2g?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Both shows are following a similar release format in their second seasons, with episodes dropping on a weekly basis, so perhaps the biggest factor that comes into play to explain the tiny difference is the actual reach Disney+ has when compared to Amazon Prime Video.<\/p>\n<p>Amazon bundles Prime Video for all of their 150 million subscribers, so while earlier this year the number of active viewers for Prime Video was closer to 30 million users, the pandemic has slowly brought up that usage to at least match Disney\u2019s 60 million subscribers.
