The ongoing saga of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds<\/em> mobile game being removed from Indian marketplaces is seemingly entering a new chapter. PUBG Mobile<\/em><\/strong> was banned in India earlier this September over cybersecurity issues related to the game’s publisher, Tencent. Now,\u00a0PUBG Mobile<\/em><\/a>\u00a0may be returning to the country\u00a0following a new partnership with Microsoft, in which\u00a0PUBG Mobile<\/em>‘s data will be hosted on Microsoft’s Azure servers.<\/p>\n

The news comes from PUBG Mobile<\/em>‘s parent company, the South Korean Krafton, Inc. Krafton announced plans to move games including\u00a0PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds<\/em> on PC and consoles<\/a>, as well as PUBG Mobile<\/em>, onto Microsoft’s Azure services. It has been further reported by TechCrunch via sources within developer PUBG Corporation that due to this decision, PUBG Mobile<\/em>\u00a0may once again be available in India. This has yet to be officially confirmed, however.<\/p>\n

PUBG Mobile<\/em>\u00a0already separated from its previous publisher, Tencent<\/a>, just a week after the ban. However, the ban wasn’t lifted despite the distance from the Chinese publisher, and no new publisher has since been announced – though it’s possible that the game will be self-published. The heart of the issue appears to be the security of user data, which India\u00a0will reportedly trust under Microsoft’s oversight.<\/p>\n

For the time being,\u00a0PUBG Mobile<\/em> remains banned in India<\/a> and there’s no word that government officials are reconsidering that position. It wasn’t just PUBG Mobile<\/em> that was banned, but a range of games. Nevertheless, for many fans of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds<\/em> in India, there’s at least some hope\u00a0PUBG Mobile<\/em> will return eventually.<\/p>\n

PUBG Mobile<\/strong> <\/em>is currently available on iOS and Android devices.<\/p>\n
