One area it may be lacking in is the maps department, however, as <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/call-of-duty-black-ops-cold-war\/\"><em>Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War<\/em><\/a> will supposedly have less maps at launch than originally planned.<\/p>\n<p>This bad news follows controversy regarding <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/call-duty-black-ops-cold-war-pay-to-win-playstation\/\"><em>Black Ops Cold War<\/em>\u2019s PlayStation exclusive content<\/a>, as reputable <em>Call of Duty<\/em> insider Tom Henderson has shared that the game will only have 8 unique 6v6 maps on day one. While this number makes some sense given the addition of Combined Arms and the need to create 12v12 maps as well, Henderson believes there should be far more maps in the game on day one.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/call-duty-black-ops-cold-war-1-2-3-4-zombies-nuketown\/\">Every Version of Nuketown in Call of Duty: Black Ops History<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>According to Henderson, it is extremely surprising \u201cthat there\u2019s only 8 6v6 maps at launch,\u201d as the leaker says that \u201cthere was 12 to 13 planned\u201d originally. This lines up with the claims made by TheGamingRevolution, another <em>CoD<\/em> leaker, saying that there would be <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/call-of-duty-black-ops-cold-war-how-many-multiplayer-maps\/\">over 10 maps at launch for <em>Black Ops Cold War<\/em><\/a>. With multiple sources reporting on this map count, Henderson\u2019s belief that \u201csomething has gone wrong somewhere\u201d could be accurate.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/_TomHenderson_\/status\/1326079554260267009?s=20\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The lack of 6v6 maps at launch could be caused by several things. Activision\u2019s focus on prioritizing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegamer.com\/black-ops-cold-war-prestige\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War<\/em>\u2019s integration with <em>Warzone<\/em><\/a> could have limited the time Treyarch had to finish the other maps. Beyond that, Treyarch did have to pick up the slack for Sledgehammer and complete the game on a two-year cycle, another factor that could have led to a smaller map count.<\/p>\n<p>Still, with multiple teams helping Treyarch with the game\u2019s development, it seems unlikely that either of these are the cause. One fan\u2019s suggestion that \u201cthey\u2019re spoon feeding\u201d players the maps as DLC could be correct, as <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/call-of-duty-black-ops-cold-war-nuketown\/\">Nuketown is already confirmed to come after launch<\/a>.
