The impostors will always be outnumbered, but that’s what makes it so exhilarating.<\/p>\n

Players will either play as a crewmate or as an impostor; as the latter, however, players get to murder\u00a0everyone else.\u00a0For the impostors to succeed in a match, they have to be extra careful as one mistake can mean immediate defeat.<\/p>\n

10 <\/span>Wander Around Looking For A Kill<\/h2>\n

Playing as an impostor can be very thrilling. Many players get excited when they find out they’re playing as an impostor, however, roaming around the map looking for a victim to put out of their misery is not the best way to play\u00a0this role.<\/p>\n

Impostors will need to do so much more than just kill other crewmates. They\u00a0also have to properly sabotage to slow the other crew members down or perhaps even win the game. Impostors should also pretend to do tasks as to not look suspicious.<\/p>\n

9 <\/span>Not Using The Vents (Properly)<\/h2>\n

The vents are one of the impostor’s most useful ally. They will allow them to navigate the map easier, hide and wait for victims, and even take out multiple crewmates in a short span of time. A player playing as an impostor should get to know where the vents are located on all three maps. They need to know when to vent in and when to vent out.<\/p>\n

It should be noted that only impostors can use the vents<\/a>. Therefore, if someone is seen using the vents, they’re immediately caught as an impostor. Use the vents properly, scarcely, but always effectively.<\/p>\n

8 <\/span>Throwing Your Co-Impostor Under The Bus<\/h2>\n

Depending on the host, there can be two impostors in a game. It is vital that these two impostors work together\u00a0without being too suspicious<\/a>. In the event that the other impostor starts getting attention and is being constantly questioned by the other players, the player must do their best to stray that attention away from them.<\/p>\n

This must be done subtly, though. If a player defends someone else too much, others might catch on to it and realize one impostor is just helping the other. The best thing to do is to be sly and subtle about it. Try\u00a0to blame or question someone else. Another option is to suggest an alibi for the accused, although this point should not be too forceful.\u00a0Whatever the case, an impostor should not throw the other impostor under the bus unless they’ve really been caught.<\/p>\n

7 <\/span>Not Sabotaging As A Ghost<\/h2>\n

When an impostor gets voted out of the game, they can still participate and help get a win for the impostors. While in ghost form, the player impostor won’t be able to kill other players anymore. Due to this, many players can get turned off and just stop playing completely, leaving the other impostor to fend off the remaining players on their own.<\/p>\n

This is something an impostor should avoid. While they can’t kill other players anymore, they can still perform sabotage. Sabotage is a great way of delaying other players, cause chaos, trap them in certain areas, or ensure the win for the impostors<\/a>.<\/p>\n

6 <\/span>Not Minding The Cameras<\/h2>\n

It is the impostor’s duty to assess every crewmate on the map<\/a> so they can make sure when to make the proper moves. The best way to do this is to check out the camera and security features in the game. This will allow impostors to know where others are, even where their fellow impostor is.<\/p>\n

This\u00a0allows\u00a0a player to\u00a0discern which area to sabotage. It can also be useful if the player sees that a crewmate and the other impostor are in an area with a vent together. Whatever the case, utilizing the camera system in the game can bring so many benefits to an impostor.<\/p>\n

5 <\/span>Not Knowing The Map<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

If a player wants to play as the villain, they have to know the playing field. Getting to know the different maps in Among Us<\/em>\u00a0will allow an impostor to explore better, know where tasks are, know the names of each section for alibis, and so on. That last point is particularly most useful in many situations.<\/p>\n

When it comes to meetings, the other players will want as much information as they can gather from someone to know whether or not they\u00a0might be\u00a0an impostor. If a player is playing an impostor, it is important that they know everything about the map and the sections in it so they can formulate their alibis better.<\/p>\n

4 <\/span>Not Familiarizing The Tasks<\/h2>\n

There are many tasks crewmates will be very busy scrambling towards. Impostors also have the liberty to do a couple of fake tasks to make it seem like they’re just busy crewmates. However, doing this mindlessly or just standing in front of a task area to pretend to be doing it can backfire on an impostor, especially with visual tasks.<\/p>\n

Visual tasks are the ones that actually show others that a task is being done. When a crewmate does this, which they can, those around them will be able to tell that they are crewmates. When an impostor just stands in front of this and nothing happens, everyone present will know that that player is not a crewmate.<\/p>\n

3 <\/span>Not Playing Dirty<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

One aspect that makes a good impostor is their affinity and proficiency in making others believe in their lies. If the player plays as an impostor they will need to play dirty in order to win. After all, the goal is to kill the other members or sabotage the entire mission. Playing dirty is pretty much a necessity at this point.<\/p>\n

Lie as much as\u00a0possible.\u00a0If an impostor gets reported for killing another player, try to pin the blame on the one who reported the murder. It is astounding just how many times this works. A player may even pin the blame on someone who is just being quiet. Chances are, they don’t know much about the game yet and won’t have any coherent alibis. Whatever the case, the impostor game calls for dirty playing.<\/p>\n

2 <\/span>Not Self-Reporting Or Using It Too Much<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

The beauty with reporting in\u00a0Among Us\u00a0<\/em>is that anyone can do it, crewmates and impostors alike. Self-reporting is a decent way of pinning suspicions on others. One of the best times to do this is when a crewmate is acting rather strangely,\u00a0perhaps they might be unfamiliar with the map or\u00a0unsure what to do next. Those are easy targets.<\/p>\n

With that said, just because this is an effective tactic, it doesn’t mean it is foolproof. This tactic can ultimately backfire on the impostor if it is used very frequently. A player shouldn’t report every kill they do as it will lead other players to realize the player is simply self-reporting.<\/p>\n

1 <\/span>Not Coming Up With A Proper Alibi<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

If a player wants to be a decent impostor, they’ll need to know how to come up with decent alibis. These alibis shouldn’t just be pulled out of thin air, though.<\/p>\n

For example, if the impostor kills someone else in the weapons room, they can scurry on towards electrical and wait until someone finds them there. By the time someone reports the dead body, the impostor can say they were in electrical the whole time and the witness can back that statement up. The players can even use this tactic even when they are caught killing another player by saying the reporter is the impostor. The impostor can then claim they headed there from a place where someone else last saw them.<\/p>\n
