Pokemon GO<\/strong><\/em> Trainers\u00a0have been able to transfer certain creatures over to other games for some time now, but the monster and title selections have been rather limited. As of today,\u00a0Niantic’s mobile hit is fully compatible with\u00a0Pokemon Home, which means players are now free of those restrictions.<\/p>\n

Until now, players have only had the option of transferring Generation 1 Pokemon over from\u00a0Pokemon GO<\/em><\/a> to\u00a0Pokemon Let’s GO <\/em>Eevee<\/em>\/Pikachu.\u00a0<\/em>With full\u00a0Pokemon Home\u00a0<\/em>connectivity now available, players will be able to\u00a0send\u00a0their favorite\u00a0Pokemon GO\u00a0<\/em>teammates over to the latest games in the series,\u00a0Pokemon Sword\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0Shield<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Aside from\u00a0full connectivity between\u00a0Pokemon GO<\/em> and Home<\/a>, this update comes with the gift of a free Melmetal. Pokemon Trainers will receive a free Melmetal, capable of Gigantamaxing, upon their first transfer from\u00a0Pokemon GO\u00a0<\/em>to\u00a0Pokemon Home.<\/p>\n

Pokemon Trainers\u00a0must\u00a0use Mystery Gift on the mobile version of Pokemon Home<\/a>\u00a0to redeem the free Melmetal, but aside from downloading the app and making a Pokemon transfer, there are no added steps. If there isn’t any particular teammate players would like to transfer, Pokemon Trainers can simply catch a random common Pokemon in\u00a0Pokemon GO\u00a0<\/em>and transfer it away; any Pokemon will trigger the reward.<\/p>\n

Meltan and its evolution, Melmetal, are the Steel-type Mythical Pokemon featured in Generation\u00a08. Meltan was originally introduced by\u00a0Pokemon GO<\/em> as a mysterious metallic Pokemon that was spotted by Professor Willow. Trainers\u00a0have been able to catch the elusive Pokemon in Pokemon GO<\/em>\u00a0by using a “Mystery\u00a0Box”<\/a> that functions as an Incense. However, the Mystery Box can only be obtained by connecting with a copy of\u00a0Pokemon Sword\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0Shield<\/em>, and must be recharged after use by re-connecting to a copy of either game.<\/p>\n

Meltan and Melmetal’s\u00a0Shiny forms\u00a0were also made available upon their initial release, but it has since been locked away. At the moment, Pokemon Trainers can only obtain Shiny Meltan during special events. Although the Mythical Pokemon and its Shiny form have been around for over a year now, Gigantamax Melmetal has remained unspoken\u00a0for\u00a0since Sword<\/em> and\u00a0Shield<\/em>‘s release. Players have known of its existence, but there has been no legitimate way to obtain a Gigantamax Melmetal up until now. Even Pokemon Trainers looking forward to Max Soup in The Crown Tundra DLC<\/a> were disappointed to discover that Melmetal is unaffected by the wholesome stew – only Melmetal received via Mystery Gift from this event are capable of Gigantamaxing.<\/p>\n

Melmetal aside, many Pokemon Trainers are simply rejoicing the ability to ferry\u00a0their precious Shiny Pokemon over from\u00a0GO\u00a0<\/em>to one of the “main” series titles, like\u00a0Sword\u00a0<\/em>or\u00a0Shield<\/em>.\u00a0Pokemon GO<\/em>\u00a0hosts\u00a0monthly Community Days that\u00a0feature swarms of Shiny Pokemon<\/a>, so players often find themselves with\u00a0too many copies of Shiny Pokemon that they just can’t bear to transfer away. Now, players can free up their GO<\/em>\u00a0inventories and put those Shiny, or Legendary Pokemon, to use on their Galarian adventures.<\/p>\n
