With the <strong>Xbox Series X\/S<\/strong> out there now, and the PlayStation 5 getting into consumer hands today, we are in full swing.<\/p>\n<p>However, due to the pandemic, there was worry about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vg247.com\/2020\/06\/09\/xbox-series-x-launch-post-coronavirus-recession\/\">supply and demand that was ushering in this new era<\/a>. With financial strain on top of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vg247.com\/2020\/11\/10\/xbox-series-x-amazon-pre-order-delay-december\/\">retail and delivery chaos<\/a>, you&rsquo;d be forgiven for expecting sales numbers to be a little muted this launch.<\/p>\n<p><iframe width=\"500\" height=\"281\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen data-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/0tUqIHwHDEc?feature=oembed\" alt=\"Please accept cookies to see this iframe.\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>You&rsquo;d be wrong though. On <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/XboxP3\/status\/1326693095954550784\">Twitter<\/a>, Xbox head Phil Spencer announced that the launch of the Xbox Series X\/S consoles was the biggest the brand has ever had. In a tweet, Spencer confirmed that during launch, Microsoft sold more Xbox consoles than in any other 24-hour time period and in more countries.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Thank you for supporting the largest launch in Xbox history. In 24 hrs more new consoles sold, in more countries, than ever before. We&rsquo;re working with retail to resupply as quickly as possible. The Xbox One trailed the PS4 during most of the last generation. Perhaps this suggests things will be more competitive this time around.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, these figures include two consoles, the X and the S, with one being a very affordable option.
