One of the features driving such potential for the new cards is AMD&#8217;s Smart Access Memory, but Nvidia has already announced that it is working on a similar feature\u00a0for use\u00a0with\u00a0all its RTX 30 Series cards.<\/p>\n<p>The reveal comes\u00a0via Gamers Nexus, who reportedly had confirmation from <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/nvidia\/\">Nvidia<\/a> that the company already\u00a0has the feature working internally and will be looking to roll it out to RTX 30 Series graphics cards through software updates. It appears that the updates will not be ready in time for the AMD RX 6000 Series launch, so direct comparisons will not be possible until later.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/amd-rdna-3-zen-4-performance-gains\/\">AMD Already Hyping RDNA 3 and Zen 4 Performance Gains<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>AMD&#8217;s Smart Access Memory was detailed in the announcements for the RX 6000 graphics cards, and the company reported the feature\u00a0would produce performance gains of between five and eleven percent on a range of games tested. However, AMD requires gamers to have both an RX 6000 Series graphics card <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/amd-benchmark-records-ryzen-9-5950x\/\">and a Zen 3 CPU for the feature to work<\/a>, whereas Nvidia claims its alternative will work on all CPUs.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GamersNexus\/status\/1327006797794828292\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The Smart Access Memory features works by allowing the CPU to have access to the graphics card memory, which runs at a much faster speed than standard system memory, resulting in\u00a0improved performance. Nvidia states that the ability\u00a0for the\u00a0CPU to access\u00a0graphics card memory\u00a0is part of the PCI Express specification, which is why its solution will work on any CPU. However, it is not known whether this\u00a0solution will work as well as AMD&#8217;s, which has clearly been designed into both the CPUs and graphics hardware. Apart from the RTX 3090, Nvidia&#8217;s cards will have less memory available for the feature than <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/amd-radon-rx-6000-series-rdna-2-reveal\/\">the 16 GB on AMD&#8217;s announced cards<\/a>, although the RTX 3080 may get a big boost from using faster GDDR6X memory.<\/p>\n<p>Given the usual cost of graphics performance, the fact that gamers will get an extra boost from their new hardware is great news. If\u00a0it can match the five to eleven percent performance jump,\u00a0Nvidia will help make\u00a0its <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/nvidias-499-rtx-3070-rtx-2080-ti-leaked-benchmarks\/\">cards more competitive in performance per dollar<\/a>, where AMD currently wins.
