Call of Duty: Warzone<\/strong><\/em> has made its debut on next-gen consoles alongside\u00a0Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War<\/em>, but fans will find that it’s basically the same game as it was on last-generation consoles. While\u00a0Call of Duty: W<\/a><\/em>arzone<\/em> runs better when playing it on a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X, and there are new\u00a0Black Ops Cold War<\/em> operators available, not much else has changed when it comes to the popular battle royale.<\/p>\n

However, there are still many changes that could be made to\u00a0Call of Duty: Warzone<\/em> to improve the experience, which will help retain players as well as potentially bring back those that have already moved on to other games.<\/p>\n

Here are all the\u00a0Call of Duty: Warzone<\/em> changes we want to see.<\/p>\n

Just recently,\u00a0Call of Duty: Warzone<\/em> added a highly-requested new feature that allows players to battle it out in private matches. This lets players battle it out on Verdansk with their own custom rules, but the problem is that it’s really only useful for official tournaments or people who can scrounge up a significant number of players. Over 20 players are required to play\u00a0Call of Duty: Warzone<\/em> private matches<\/a>, even for Mini BR variant, and that’s something that’s just not feasible for the vast majority of players.<\/p>\n

One way to fix this would be allow bots in\u00a0Call of Duty: Warzone<\/em> private matches, not unlike the bots that are used in the standard\u00a0Modern Warfare<\/em> multiplayer mode. This way,\u00a0Call of Duty: Warzone<\/em> private matches could become a great way for people to practice in the battle royale, trying out new loadouts and the like without having to worry about being killed by skilled enemy players before they have a chance to do so.<\/p>\n

A big controversy when it comes to\u00a0Call of Duty: Warzone<\/em>‘s cross-play<\/a> is the potential advantage that players may have by playing on one platform over the other. Case in point, the fact that PC\u00a0Call of Duty: Warzone<\/em> players have access to a Field of View slider and those playing on console do not. While many will be satisfied with\u00a0Call of Duty: Warzone<\/em>‘s default FOV, there are some that argue that being able to adjust the FOV gives them an advantage. Regardless, since PC players have the option to adjust it, it only makes sense that\u00a0Warzone<\/em> players on consoles have the same option as well.<\/p>\n

A big problem\u00a0Call of Duty: Warzone<\/em> has faced is an abundance of cheaters, mainly impacting PC players and those who use cross-play.\u00a0Call of Duty: Warzone<\/em> hacks<\/a> include everything from aimbots to wallhacks, and they give players a massively unfair advantage against their opponents. Activision and Infinity Ward have banned countless\u00a0Call of Duty: Warzone<\/em> cheaters, but it remains a persistent issue in the game. While it’s unclear exactly what else Activision could do to combat it, more anti-cheat measures of some kind could go a long way in improving the\u00a0Call of Duty: Warzone<\/em> experience for those playing fair.<\/p>\n

Battle royale fans can only play on the same map so much before they tire of it or are wanting to experience something new. Other games have solved this problem by adding brand new maps for players to explore, whereas games like\u00a0Fortnite<\/em> have made sweeping changes to the existing map.\u00a0Call of Duty: Warzone<\/em> has made some slight changes to its Verdansk battle royale map<\/a> since introducing it back in March, like opening up Stadium and subway stations, but it’s generally remained the same.<\/p>\n

A new\u00a0Call of Duty: Warzone<\/em> map could give the battle royale a significant shot in the arm, going a long way in retaining current players and perhaps even bringing back lapsed players that have moved on to other games. Of course, Verdansk should still remain an option in\u00a0Call of Duty: Warzone<\/em> if a new battle royale map is introduced, as past BR games have forced new maps on players that have proven to be not nearly as popular as the original.<\/p>\n

There are rumors that a new\u00a0Call of Duty: Warzone<\/em> map is in the works in some capacity. In fact, it’s been teased that the Alcatraz prison island<\/a> that’s been featured in past\u00a0Call of Duty<\/em> games will either be added to Verdansk as part of\u00a0Black Ops Cold War<\/em> Season 1, or will be its own separate map. Other rumors point to a new\u00a0Call of Duty: Warzone<\/em> map coming to the game as part of its 1 year anniversary in March,\u00a0possibly comprised of locations from\u00a0Black Ops Cold War<\/em>, but that remains to be seen.<\/p>\n

There are still many quality of life changes that the developers could make to\u00a0Call of Duty: Warzone<\/em> to improve the experience in general.\u00a0Call of Duty: Warzone<\/em>‘s skill-based matchmaking<\/a> is a point of contention, and many would be happy to see it go. The annoying gas mask animation continues to ruin games, and there are various balance changes that the developers could make to improve general combat as well as killstreaks like Cluster Strikes and UAVs.<\/p>\n

Another quality of life change that could be nice to see would be for\u00a0Call of Duty: Warzone<\/em> marksman rifles to use their own ammo type instead of sharing ammo with snipers. The way it is now,\u00a0Call of Duty: Warzone<\/em> players using marksman rifles run out of ammo far too quickly, making the guns not nearly as viable as they otherwise would be.<\/p>\n

It would also be nice to see some of the more popular limited-time modes become permanent playlists.\u00a0Call of Duty: Warzone<\/em>‘s Stimulus mode<\/a> has proven to be quite popular with fans yet is usually unavailable, and the developers have also been known to remove things like regular Plunder from the game. More consistency with the available game modes would go a long way in ensuring fans are having fun more consistently when playing\u00a0Warzone<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Call of Duty: Warzone<\/strong><\/em> is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.<\/p>\n
