Borderlands 3<\/a><\/em>‘s fourth and final campaign DLC of the game’s downloadable content season is an energetic rumpus of psychotic fun and hidden gems.<\/p>\n

Psycho Krieg and The Fantastic Fustercluck is easily the wackiest of Borderlands 3<\/em><\/a>‘s DLC. There is a lot that\u00a0transpires with this small add-on. From the grotesque landscape of Castle Crimson to the unsettling corridors of Benediction of Pain, there are plenty of details that can be missed by many casual players. Those with a keen eye, however, may catch something interesting when\u00a0fighting your way\u00a0through Borderlands 3<\/em><\/a>‘s fourth campaign DLC.<\/p>\n

10 <\/span>Eyes Wide Open<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Castle Crimson is not the friendliest looking place in the world, which isn’t actually saying a lot given that the “world” in which\u00a0players traverse\u00a0is the mind of the DLC<\/a>‘s titular psycho. With that being said, it may become more unsettling when\u00a0one sees that Castle Crimson is a conglomerate of flesh and sinew to signify the bloodlust within the game’s psychos’ brain. What is even more unsettling than that is there are some eyes spotted\u00a0throughout the area peeking at players and even following them as they move, never averting their gaze.<\/p>\n

9 <\/span>Buzzaxe In The Sky With Diamonds<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Continuing through Castle Crimson<\/a>, players eventually will see the namesake castle and a large buzz axe sticking out of the top. The buzz axe is the item that players need to complete this area and continue through to the DLC’s next area. While the giant tool<\/a> is something almost all players will notice, what they may not notice is the fact that the buzz axe actually disappears once you have successfully beat the final boss of the area.<\/p>\n

8 <\/span>Another Way Up<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

As players approach the final boss of Castle Crimson, they come across an enormous, spiral staircase. Reaching the fourth floor will bring players to a colorful launch pad off to the side. The initial set of stairs up from the pad are broken, leading players to assume the only way up is the launch pad. However, if one were to exercise some curiosity and jump up the broken stone stairs, they will find that they can actually continue to climb the remaining 11\u00a0flights.<\/p>\n

7 <\/span>Homage To The Headshot<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Moving on to Sapphire’s Run, which is the second, not-as-gory area of the DLC. This game area is centered around Krieg’s infatuation with Maya, another fan-favorite character of the Borderlands<\/em> franchise.<\/p>\n

Progressing through the area, a train is often speeding around, which may cause many distractions for players, meaning they miss some details. One thing players will definitely see is the large and iconic psycho mask floating in the air. What might be missed is the bullet that’s going through its head is actually an homage to the iconic finger guns pose seen on the first Borderlands<\/em> game cover.<\/p>\n

6 <\/span>Roses Are Red…<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

As said before, Sapphire’s Run is a representation of Krieg’s love for the blue-haired siren<\/a>, Maya.\u00a0Once players enter the area, they will see Maya, and Krieg begins talking. Then as you approach Maya, a bed of roses begins growing out of the ground as you walk. It is a detail that sadly reminds players of Maya’s fate in the main game. Players may appreciate this small feature, but that isn’t the only place the roses will grow as they walk. In fact, almost any area in the game that directly leads to or is relevant to Maya has roses that grow as players walk, even back in the Psychoscape hub, once the boss of Sapphire’s Run is defeated.<\/p>\n

5 <\/span>Number 1 Fan<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Along with the large psycho mask that looms over Sapphire’s Run, there are many objects, and things present either in the air or in the distance.<\/p>\n

The more observant players will notice the psycho cheering and standing next to a giant traffic cone. Whether this onlooker is cheering for your success or your downfall is not entirely known. However, what makes this “fan” interesting is that players can see him clearly from certain perspectives all the way up until the final boss of Sapphire’s Run.<\/p>\n

4 <\/span>It’s A Bird. It’s A Plane. It’s A Psycho<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

The third area of the game, known as the Benediction of Pain, is the gloomy and scary area of the game. This area illustrates Krieg’s origins and how he came to be the psycho with which everyone is familiar. Upon entering the Benediction of Pain, players see a large and looming display of Krieg strapped to an operating table of sorts. Just like the buzz axe in Castle Crimson, the trapped Krieg will disappear from the table in the sky upon the defeat of the final boss<\/a> and completion of the area.<\/p>\n

3 <\/span>Masque of The Handsome Jack<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Handsome Jack’s mask can be seen in the corner of the room right before entering the Benediction of Pain’s final boss fight. This detail is not as grand in scale or size as the other ones, but it does raise some interesting questions about the story of Borderlands<\/em>. One question that arises from this mask’s presence is why Handsome Jack’s mask<\/a> is in this specific area since only a few people would have had access to his iconic face coverings.<\/p>\n

2 <\/span>Quantum Cardboard Box<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

In the same penultimate room before engaging with Dr. Benedict, the final boss of the Benediction of Pain,\u00a0players can find\u00a0another small easter egg<\/a> and detail in one of the holding cells. In this holding cell, there are many manic scrawls and writing all over the walls and a rainbow painted across the floor. There are a cardboard box and a button on the floor, which can only be pushed after completing all of the DLC’s crew challenges. Pushing it while inside the box sends players flying across the entire map, outside of it, and immediately returns them to the cell.<\/p>\n

1 <\/span>The Doctor Is Out…For Good<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Dr. Benedict is the final boss of Benediction of Pain. Killing him frees the Krieg strapped to a table in the sky, and returning to this area shows an empty operating table in the air where Krieg once was. At this point, players have gained access to the highly anticipated “Vauthalla.” This means players may have missed the aforementioned Dr. Benedict lying dead on\u00a0an operating table next to the portal between the Psychoscape hub and Benediction of Pain.<\/p>\n
