As of today, however, Vega has officially been released from her contract with the major professional wrestling promotion.<\/p>\n<p>The news comes courtesy of the <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/wwe\/\">WWE<\/a> website, which posted a short notice announcing the performer&#8217;s release and wishing her the best of luck in her future endeavors. Vega\u00a0posted a message on her\u00a0Twitter a mere ten minutes before the official announcement of her release,\u00a0sharing &#8220;I support unionization&#8221;\u00a0with her followers.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/wwe-paige-twitch-stream-video-clip\/\">WWE&#8217;s Paige Criticizes Company Amid Twitch Controversy<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The news\u00a0comes as something of a shock, with Vega&#8217;s recent\u00a0stint on WWE television indicating that she was still\u00a0a core part of the company&#8217;s plans.\u00a0During last week&#8217;s episode of Smackdown, she battled against fellow superstars Natalya and Ruby Riott in a triple threat Survivor Series qualifier match, while she recently had a heated feud with <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/wwe-asuka-visits-capcom\/\">Asuka<\/a> for the Raw Women&#8217;s Championship.\u00a0Very little\u00a0information is currently available surrounding the termination of Vega&#8217;s contract,\u00a0with neither\u00a0the star nor WWE discussing any further details.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WWE\/status\/1327384821211992066\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Zelina_VegaWWE\/status\/1327382306491928576\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Thea Megan Trinidad first debuted\u00a0under her Zelina Vega alias back in 2017, where she quickly established a partnership with\u00a0former United States Champion Andrade back when the pair were in NXT. From there, the duo grew to be one of the show&#8217;s biggest acts, with Andrade eventually securing the NXT Championship in a\u00a0bout with <a href=\"https:\/\/screenrant.com\/wwe-drew-mcintyre-wins-royal-rumble-wrestlemania\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Drew McIntyre<\/a>. After a lengthy stint with the title, the two moved up to the main roster, where they&#8217;ve been engaging\u00a0in various feuds since. Vega even starred in several high profile matches of her own, showcasing that she had the skills to be both a manager and an in-ring performer.<\/p>\n<p>Away from\u00a0her wrestling persona, Vega is also very active on social media, originally having a Twitch channel with her husband and fellow superstar Aleister\u00a0Black. However,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/wwe-taking-control-talents-twitch-accounts\/\">WWE made the controversial decision<\/a> recently to\u00a0control how its stars\u00a0interacted with third-party apps, with the move seeing\u00a0wrestlers like Vega, Paige, and AJ Styles forced to\u00a0make significant changes to\u00a0their Twitch streams. That being said, Vega has\u00a0continued operating an OnlyFans account in spite of the new guidelines.<\/p>\n<p>This isn&#8217;t the first time WWE has removed a star very suddenly, with the company dumping a number of big names during the beginning of the pandemic. <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/wwe-coronavirus-wrestlers\/\">Rusev, Kurt Angle, Luke Gallows, Karl Anderson, Heath Slater, EC3, Zack Ryder, Rowan, and more\u00a0were let go<\/a> during the mass exodus, as WWE dropped some of its biggest talent without warning.
