With the PS5 and Xbox Series X finally in homes, players have quickly begun diving into both launch titles and the best games to be ported from the previous generation to new systems. One of those titles,\u00a0Dead by Daylight<\/strong><\/em>, has been\u00a0working towards reinventing itself with new killers like The Twins<\/a> and graphical updates coming alongside the game’s jump to next-gen consoles.<\/p>\n

In a recent interview with Game Rant, Behaviour Interactive’s Head of Partnerships,\u00a0Mathieu Cote, commented on what kind of features\u00a0Dead by Daylight<\/em><\/a> will be taking advantage of on next-gen consoles. While many of the Next-Gen’s\u00a0most prominent selling points\u00a0won’t be arriving at launch, it does seem like Behaviour is eyeing some DualSense features in the future.<\/p>\n

The specific feature in question is the DualSense’s haptic feedback<\/a>, which is intended to add an extra level of immersion to any games played on PS5 consoles over the competition. According to\u00a0Cote, this feature is something that Behaviour has had in mind for implementing into Dead by Daylight<\/em>, but balancing crossplay makes bringing the new rumble a difficult task. Since haptic feedback is only available on PS5, it means that there wouldn’t be a proper way to replicate the same effect on any other platforms, next-gen or otherwise.<\/p>\n

Not at launch. Haptic feedback is a good example of a feature that’s really cool to take advantage of but since it’s got no equivalent elsewhere, it makes it difficult in the context of crossplay. The game balance is a delicately balanced chaos, and we are careful around things that may impact it.<\/p>\n

It certainly doesn’t mean we’re not going to do something in the future, but it won’t be for launch.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n

While balance is an issue to watch out for, with\u00a0Dead by Daylight<\/em>‘s next-gen release<\/a> including crossplay at launch, Behaviour does still seem to have ideas for how to implement haptic feedback in the future, though it may be a wait. Players likely shouldn’t be expecting haptic feedback to have the kind of hyper-realistic immersion planned for PS5 exclusive titles like\u00a0Godfall<\/em>, instead working in tandem with the terror of\u00a0Dead by Daylight<\/em> in more subtle ways.<\/p>\n

Exactly when the haptic feedback feature will be coming to\u00a0Dead by Daylight<\/em>‘s PS5 version is still fairly up in the air and may take some time for Behaviour to consider how it could affect the balance on the system. After all, giving players a better idea of where\u00a0Dead by Daylight’s<\/em> antagonizing\u00a0killers<\/a> might be coming from or which direction survivors have run off to could mean that the new console has a clear advantage over others. Regardless, Behaviour does still seem to be interested in haptic feedback, and the feature will likely come to the game sooner or later.<\/p>\n

Dead by Daylight<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.<\/p>\n
