When it comes to\u00a0Respawn Entertainment’s battle royale\u00a0Apex Legends<\/strong><\/em>, every player seems to have their favorite character of choice. While some took to the Interdimensional Skirmisher, Wraith, immediately upon launch, others have set their sights on\u00a0the game’s latest legend, Horizon<\/a>. And while it seems that the game’s dev is continuously working on all of the characters until they are viable in all levels of play, there is seemingly one legend that won’t reach these same heights.<\/p>\n

On a recent post in the\u00a0Apex Legends<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>subreddit, Senior Game Designer Daniel Klein where players were discussing the recent buff to Mirage’s decoys. One player indicated that although the decoys have more health now, there is no damage indicators when hit by an opponent. This player interpreted this as a change that was aimed at “low skill” matches. While Klein responded saying that the buff was not aimed a lower skill levels, he went on to say that he believes Mirage can “never be viable at the highest of high levels.”<\/p>\n

Klein went on to say that this was because he felt that Mirage can’t be viable<\/a> at a high skill level without becoming confusing and unfair for lower skill level players. Since this comment, several Mirage players have responded with angry retorts and the comment itself has been downvoted by many members of the community.<\/p>\n

With every update to\u00a0Apex Legends<\/em>, players can expect a level of character tweaking via buffs and nerfs. Sometimes these changes are minimal whereas other instances have shown characters receiving total reworks<\/a> of how they operate. One of the biggest examples of this rework came for Lifeline when she gained the ability to use her health drone to revive fallen teammates.<\/p>\n

This isn’t the first instance of\u00a0the\u00a0Apex Legends\u00a0<\/em>team receiving some kind of backlash from the community recently. Season 7 saw the introduction of a new battle pass system that came with a bug that would reset players’ progress. Thankfully, Respawn resolved the issue quickly and gave players a week of double experience for the inconvenience<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Despite quick resolutions like this,\u00a0Apex Legends\u00a0<\/em>seems to not be performing as well in Season 7\u00a0as it did in Season 6<\/a>. According to a recent report from M Science, it appears that while the battle royale has overall higher player spending than it did at this time last year, it’s down from last season. And while this could be for a multitude of reasons, such as players not liking the new battle pass, it seems that community interactions like this certainly are not helping.<\/p>\n

Apex Legends\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. A Switch version is currently in development.<\/p>\n
