For the past five years, Rockstar has continued to focus its efforts\u00a0on Grand Theft Auto<\/em>\u00a0and making more content for GTA Online<\/em>. While GTA<\/em> fans continue to speculate on the next\u00a0GTA, 6<\/em><\/a>, there is a new game on the horizon that could\u00a0be a potential competitor to\u00a0Grand Theft Auto<\/em> called Everywhere<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Everywhere<\/em> is being developed by Build A Rocket Boy Studio, an independent studio founded by former Rockstar North president, Leslie Benzies, and comprised of over 400 employees with\u00a0seasoned\u00a0GTA<\/em><\/a> developers. Benzies had previously explained that the title\u00a0will be an open-world, sci-fi video game where humanity utilizes advanced virtual simulation technology.\u00a0The developer\u00a0revealed on the game’s Facebook page that Everywhere<\/em> will\u00a0now be using the Unreal Engine for\u00a0its development.<\/p>\n

Now that\u00a0the\u00a0Unreal Engine<\/a>\u00a0is compatible with Sony’s\u00a0PlayStation 5 and Microsoft’s Xbox Series X and S, the game can arrive on the next-gen consoles\u00a0whenever it’s completed.\u00a0Previously, Build A Rocket Boy was developing the new game on Amazon’s Lumberyard game engine,\u00a0but now\u00a0the developer\u00a0made the switch due to the benefits Unreal Engine will bring\u00a0to\u00a0the title. The developer stated the\u00a0engine’s\u00a0\u00a0tech advancements over the last two years align with the its\u00a0intentions\u00a0for the game, and\u00a0will allow Everywhere<\/em> to stay at the forefront of the industry for years.<\/p>\n

Other than that, Build A Rocket Boy\u00a0hasn’t revealed any more details behind changing the\u00a0game engine. The\u00a0developer has wrapped up the latest round of funding with a new investor in Galaxy Interactive alongside existing investors, such as\u00a0NetEase. This resulted in the developer gaining even more funding\u00a0in addition to Build A Rocket Boy’s $42 million<\/a> raised this past September.<\/p>\n

Unlike before, Build A Rocket\u00a0Boy\u00a0hasn’t disclosed the exact figures, but it’s possible the funding is going towards developing the game and adding more people. In the same post,\u00a0the developer\u00a0reveals that it’s hiring more staff in all disciplines for its\u00a0Edinburgh and Budapest studios. There are\u00a0studio\u00a0job listings<\/a>\u00a0for open positions in Arts, Code, Scripting, Cinematics, Production, and more for Edinburgh with a single Coding position\u00a0for Budapest.<\/p>\n

With the new changes, Build A Rocket Boy is continuing full production of its first title and doesn’t seem to be slowing down, though no release date has been announced.\u00a0GTA<\/em> fans have speculated that Everywhere<\/em> might even release before Rockstar launches its next\u00a0game, but that’s only speculation. Whether Everywhere<\/em>\u00a0ends up being a competitor to the GTA<\/em> series<\/a> remains to be seen, but Build A Rocket Boy has big plans for its first major title.<\/p>\n
