There was a point where it seemed as if the Assassin\u2019s Creed series was done using the same characters and preferred bringing in new ones with each game. While it did repeat several mistakes from the series<\/a>, Assassin\u2019s Creed Valhalla did a good job of tying the series\u2019 storylines together.<\/p>\n

This involved connecting plot threads from earlier to assassins, with certain characters even returning. Due to this, there\u2019s speculation\u00a0concerning whether\u00a0any other former lead characters will be brought back. That sounds like a great idea, but not everyone deserves to have another go-around in this story. Let\u2019s see who should return and who shouldn\u2019t.<\/span><\/p>\n

10 <\/span>RETURN: Ezio Auditore<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

If there\u2019s one assassin who can be considered as the poster figure of the series, it has to be Ezio. This guy was full of cool moments and quotes, <\/a>a heroes\u2019 journey arc, and is generally the most complete and fleshed-out assassin. Assassin\u2019s Creed Valhalla had more references to Ezio than any other since his departure, making a return possible.<\/span><\/p>\n

He had more to do with the Assassins than almost any other, having been part of the faction for around four decades. It would be fascinating to see stories of Ezio that weren\u2019t shown in his own trilogy.<\/span><\/p>\n

9 <\/span>STAY GONE: Jacob Frye<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Although Jacob\u2019s story wasn\u2019t fully complete, there\u2019s no real reason to bring him back. His descendant was also shown during the first World War, meaning he could be tied into a potential story set during that time. However, there\u2019s just not enough fan interest\u00a0invested in him.<\/span><\/p>\n

Unlike his sister, Jacob was more of a one-note protagonist in that he was fully focused on the assassination aspect rather than any deep meaning behind it. He just doesn\u2019t have a broad enough importance to the story to warrant a return.<\/span><\/p>\n

8 <\/span>RETURN:\u00a0Aveline<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

It\u2019s a shame that Aveline\u2019s story was shown across twelve whole years in Assassin\u2019s Creed III: Liberation\u00a0yet she\u2019s still not been presented as a big-time protagonist. She was witness to a major event in Eve\u2019s election as the leader of the rebellion during the Human-Isu War.<\/span><\/p>\n

This point can be expanded within the game series, rather than be left to side material. Aveline can be brought back by connecting her with the Isu, thereby providing more exposition for future protagonists over the history of the First Civilization.<\/span><\/p>\n

7 <\/span>STAY GONE: Connor Kenway<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Even though we recommend\u00a0revisiting Assassin\u2019s Creed III after finishing Valhalla,<\/a> Connor himself isn\u2019t a very attractive prospect for a future appearance. His entire role in the story was that of an angry young man, and it’s no fun seeing this play out yet again.<\/span><\/p>\n

Connor also was only important to the story for Desmond to gain access to the vault, following which he\u2019s pretty much immaterial. In order to make him vital again, the series will have to do major retconning which is all completely unnecessary.<\/span><\/p>\n

6 <\/span>RETURN: Bayek<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Sure, Bayek\u2019s purpose was to show how the Assassin\u2019s Creed formed\u00a0\u2014 then known as the Hidden Ones\u00a0\u2014 but we never got to see him fully develop the brotherhood. It would be nice to see Bayek\u2019s exploits after the faction was fully formed.<\/span><\/p>\n

Not to mention that Bayek was still pretty shattered by the death of his son and his divorce from Amunet, so there\u2019s enough material unresolved that can be closed up by a future appearance. It would also be pretty cool to see him somehow glimpse the future and see how his efforts have turned out.<\/span><\/p>\n

5 <\/span>STAY GONE: Arno Dorian<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

There was probably no bigger sap in this franchise than this guy. Routinely ranked low among the assassins seen so far,<\/a> Arno was a very weak protagonist and a boring character. In fact, his entire arc surrounded his love story with Elise, following which there\u2019s nothing to follow about him.<\/span><\/p>\n

Most people have already forgotten what his relevance to the series\u2019 plot was, and it would be silly to suddenly bring him back as if he was ever important. A passing mention here or there sounds okay, but a full-on return should be out of the question.<\/span><\/p>\n

4 <\/span>RETURN: Desmond Miles<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

For all its shortcomings, one of the ways Assassin\u2019s Creed Valhalla has changed the series<\/a> is by bringing Desmond back. Of course, he\u2019s something of an echo by this point, but it\u2019s easy to see some kind of Isu magic being used to resurrect him.<\/span><\/p>\n

Even if that\u2019s not the route taken, Desmond\u2019s appearance at the end of Valhalla was too much of a bombshell to go unaddressed in the following game. While the series is notorious for leaving plot threads unwoven for years, it would be the wrong move to write Desmond out again.<\/span><\/p>\n

3 <\/span>STAY GONE: Amunet<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Much like Connor, Amunet was also driven by rage more than anything else. While it sounds good on paper to see her again, her story was completed in Assassin\u2019s Creed Origins itself as she found her true calling and was content with where she was.<\/span><\/p>\n

Another reason to consider her story as finished is the fact that Assassin\u2019s Creed Odyssey showed Amunet to be a direct descendent of Kassandra, meaning she carried on the legacy from her Eagle-bearer ancestor, thereby completing the circle of her origins and conclusion.<\/span><\/p>\n

2 <\/span>RETURN: Altair<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

It\u2019s difficult to imagine any assassin who was as wise as Altair<\/a>, nor one who\u00a0embodied all the best qualities of the creed so well. He was such an interesting character that he was brought back for Assassin\u2019s Creed Revelations to finish up his arc.<\/span><\/p>\n

However, like Desmonds\u2019s return in Valhalla, Altair can also pop back up through the Isu technology. He was already shown to have imparted his memories into the Isu keys that Ezio used. Similarly, a future Assassin\u2019s Creed game can feature further past adventures of Altair using this framing device.<\/span><\/p>\n

1 <\/span>STAY GONE:\u00a0Kassandra<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Her characterization was complete to the point where Kassandra\u2019s emotional and funny sides in Assassin\u2019s Creed Odyssey<\/a>\u00a0were fully highlighted. She was also revealed to be alive over two thousand years later, before passing the Staff of Hermes to Layla and passing away.<\/span><\/p>\n

Although it might seem easy to bring her back by featuring Kassandra at any point within that two thousand year gap, there\u2019s no need for it since her ending is already known. She fulfilled her purpose and doesn\u2019t have to return in past stories due to Amunet\u2019s reveal as her descendent, effectively tying her to the assassins this way.<\/span><\/p>\n
