Fans have been looking forward to the release of\u00a0Spider-Man: Miles Morales<\/em><\/a>\u00a0since it was announced. Now that the next generation of consoles has released,\u00a0the sequel to\u00a0Marvel’s Spider-Man<\/em> is one of the first games players can get on the PlayStation 5. Fans that weren’t lucky enough to get the new console before it sold out can still play it on the PlayStation 4 while they wait for their chance to get the newest gaming system.<\/p>\n

Though there are a lot of good things about the new title, there are also some things that players\u00a0might not enjoy. Regardless,\u00a0Spider-Man: Miles Morales\u00a0<\/em>is one of the best games of the year.<\/p>\n

10 <\/span>Love: Story<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

The story takes place after\u00a0Marvel’s Spider-Man<\/em>.\u00a0Miles has been training<\/a> with Peter for a while but doesn’t think he is as good of a hero as his idol yet. However, Peter sees Miles’ potential and leaves New York to him while he goes on vacation. Miles ends up battling against the Underground and Roxxon, who are in a war with each other.<\/p>\n

When Miles learns who the Tinkerer, the Underground’s leader, really is, his life is forever changed.\u00a0This plot was great<\/a>, although it was not flawless. The biggest problem with the story is that it is just not that long.<\/p>\n

9 <\/span>Don’t Love: Length<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

It only takes about 8 hours for the average player to beat the main story of the game. Though there are side quests that they can complete, this title isn’t nearly as long as\u00a0Marvel’s Spider-Man<\/em>. Fans wish that they could have spent some more time on this title and hope that the next installment will be longer. Sony did\u00a0set Spider-Man: Miles Morales<\/em> at a lower price than a full release, so it was clearly not meant to be treated as a full game.<\/p>\n

8 <\/span>Love: Characters<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

There are very few fans that dislike Miles. When they learned that he was getting his own game, many people were thrilled. As it so happens,\u00a0Miles\u00a0is not the only great character in the game. Throughout the story, players are introduced to friends and family that weren’t in\u00a0Marvel’s Spider-Man<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Phin, Ganke, and Aaron are\u00a0just as well written<\/a>\u00a0as Miles. Though the game may be about Harlem’s Spider-Man, the people in his life are just as important.<\/p>\n

7 <\/span>Don’t Love: Roxxon<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Due to how much players care about Miles, Phin, and the people in their lives, they quickly hated Simon Krieger and Roxxon. Simon was arguably the main antagonist of the game since, without him, the Tinkerer and the Underground would not have fought Miles to begin with.<\/p>\n

The leader of Roxxon is a manipulative man who will do anything he could to gain money. Due to how much he hurts the likable characters,\u00a0he is a great villain<\/a>\u00a0that most players will come to hate.<\/p>\n

6 <\/span>Love: Combat<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

If there is any part of the gameplay that is the best<\/a>, it would be the combat. Miles has Peter’s powers but also gains new abilities that weren’t in\u00a0Marvel’s Spider-Man<\/em>. His best moves are the Venom Skills, which allow him to significantly damage multiple enemies at once.<\/p>\n

Miles can also turn invisible and sneak up on opponents from behind. This makes this Spider-Man even more fun to play as than Peter.<\/p>\n

5 <\/span>Don’t Love: Puzzles<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

The worst part of Spider-Man: Miles Morales<\/em>‘\u00a0gameplay\u00a0is the puzzles. Though they are different than they were in the last installment, they still are not fun and can be frustrating, especially when a puzzle needs to be finished\u00a0to progress the\u00a0story. Most players might prefer these puzzles to be optional or in a side quest so they could keep fighting enemies without interruption.<\/p>\n

4 <\/span>Love: Setting<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Marvel’s Spider-Man\u00a0<\/em>took place in\u00a0New York City<\/a> and allowed players to travel to the Empire State Building, Central Park, and other well-known locations. When it was revealed that\u00a0Spider-Man: Miles Morales\u00a0<\/em>would center around Harlem, fans wondered if they would be able to see the rest of the city.<\/p>\n

Not only can they travel to all of the places from the first game again, but they are also now able to do it in the Winter. The map is almost the exact same except now everything is covered in snow<\/a>. The few places that are different are because of the game’s plot, such as Fisk Tower now being the Underground’s hideout. Players have a reason to travel all around New York City again.<\/p>\n

3 <\/span>Don’t Love: Controls<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Due to how many things Miles is able to do in the game, players may accidentally use an ability they hadn’t meant to when they tried to do something else. For the most part, this isn’t much of an inconvenience as they can just try again until they do what they wanted, which doesn’t take long. However, this can be annoying when players are in the middle of a fight.<\/p>\n

2 <\/span>Love: Music<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

John Paesano composed a soundtrack that is just as great as the rest of the game. Though many genres were mixed together to make the title’s score, the most popular songs are hip-hop. Tracks like “This Is My Time”, “Where We Come From”, and “I’m Ready” include vocals from Lecrae and Jaden Smith that fit with the game’s plot and Miles’ story.<\/p>\n

The soundtrack helps\u00a0Spider-Man: Miles Morales <\/em>standout\u00a0from its predecessor and complements the tone of the game.<\/p>\n

1 <\/span>Don’t Love: Connection To Marvel’s Spider-Man<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Even though this is the sequel to\u00a0Marvel’s Spider-Man<\/em>, the two games don’t have much to do with each other. Besides Miles, few of the characters from the first game are even mentioned and this entry can be played without knowing anything about the previous title. This is great for newcomers and gives them a reason to play the first game.<\/p>\n

At the same time, however, this was disappointing to those who want to know what happens next in the overall plot. Those players are going to have to wait for the third game in the series.<\/p>\n
