Whether it was ready or not, Capcom’s plans for Monster Hunter Rise<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0have been revealed by vigilant data-miners claiming to have gathered over a terabyte of data on coming projects. Originally scheduled for release on the Nintendo Switch, Monster Hunter Rise<\/em><\/a> and Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin<\/em> are apparently receiving PC ports sometime after their anticipated releases in March 2021 and summer of 2021, respectively.<\/p>\n

The canonical sequel to the massively popular Monster Hunter World<\/em><\/a>, Monster Hunter Rise<\/em>\u00a0marks the next main installment in the series, with such titles historically bringing a slew of new features, mechanics, improvements, monsters, and more to the ever-evolving hunting formula. Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin<\/em> takes the series in a different direction, with emphasis on telling the story of a collection of characters via turn-based combat and JRPG mechanics instead of the dynamic, real-time action of a main series title.<\/p>\n

While the idea of both Monster Hunter<\/em> titles coming to the PC is especially exciting for fans of World<\/em>, anyone interpreting the information found within the leak should stay skeptical as plans change, case-in-point being\u00a0Monster Hunter Rise’s<\/em> own COVID-19 related delays<\/a>. Also bundled in the leak are details regarding several new releases from Capcom in the works, many utilizing familiar properties. Source code for Devil May Cry 2<\/em> and Umbrella Chronicles<\/em> have been found, plans for a VR adaptation of Resident Evil 4<\/em>, and a collection of cryptic codenames for future projects.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, a very possible result of these release plans being confirmed is the cancellation of Nintendo Switch pre-orders<\/a> for either title. Given that the Switch versions are assuredly releasing on time coinciding with their advertised dates as opposed to the unofficial announcement of their PC counterparts dropping at a currently unspecified time, only the extremely patient PC players could consider the wait worthwhile.<\/p>\n

Optimized and designed for the Nintendo Switch, Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin<\/em>\u00a0aims to add exciting new features improving over its predecessor. For those unfamiliar, Stories<\/em> focuses on the efforts of Monster Riders, elusive tamers of wyverns and beasts that exist to maintain the stability of the world’s ecosystems, similar to the responsibilities of Monster Hunters, just more subversive and decidedly more magical. Among these changes are the inclusion of player character customization<\/a>, adding a more personalized perspective to the growing side-series, its story complementary to the main canon.<\/p>\n

Monster Hunter Rise\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>will be available on Nintendo Switch March 26, 2021, with Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin<\/strong><\/em> releasing Summer 2021.<\/p>\n
