Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War<\/em><\/strong> has released, bringing with it a brand-new take on Treyarch\u2019s iconic Zombies mode. While Zombies in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War<\/em><\/a> is different in many ways, the classic game mode still features the return of the fan favorite Ray Gun.<\/p>\n

Players will certainly want to acquire the Ray Gun whenever they hop into a match of Die Maschine, as the original wonder weapon has seen a major buff since its last appearance in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4<\/em>\u00a0Zombies<\/a>. Now the strongest weapon available in Zombies mode, the Ray Gun is a must-have for new players and veterans alike. Due to its new power increase, the illusive weapon is rarer than ever, but it can be obtained in three different ways.<\/p>\n

The classic way of obtaining the Ray Gun (and most other weapons), spinning Black Ops Cold War<\/em>\u2019s mystery box<\/a> is a valid approach to take for getting ahold of a Ray Gun. However, players should be warned that the newest version of the magical weapon crate works differently from other Mystery Boxes, providing weapons of different rarity levels. The Ray Gun is the highest rarity available, making it an uncommon drop from the box, though players will have a better chance of getting the Ray Gun on higher rounds.<\/p>\n

If players are lucky enough to acquire the weapon this way, be warned that picking up a Ray Gun from the Mystery Box can lead to a terrifying jump scare.<\/p>\n

When building Pack-A-Punch<\/a> in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War<\/em> Zombies, or completing the numerous steps required for all the D.I.E. wonder weapon upgrades, players enter the Dark Aether. It is within the Dark Aether that glowing purple crystals can be found scattered around the map, with players able to shatter the crystals via melee or gunfire. When broken, the crystals can drop resources, armor shards, or, on exceedingly rare occasions, wonder weapons.<\/p>\n

Both the Ray Gun and the D.I.E. Shockwave can be obtained<\/a> via the crystals, but this should not be the primary way people try to obtain either weapon due to the rarity of the drops.<\/p>\n
