There is also a story mode where players can relive duels from the various animes in the franchise.<\/p>\n<p>While the also <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/best-yugioh-video-games-ranked\/\">popular\u00a0<em>Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Links\u00a0<\/em><\/a>is a much more simplified and faster version of the card game, this game goes all in with every summoning mechanic that will make players head spin when they first play the game. For those seeking a challenge in their card games, this might be your best choice.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">10 <\/span>Hex: Shards of Fate<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static1.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/hex-shadows-of-fate.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p><em>Hex <\/em>is one of the newer online CCG&#8217;s out there and plays almost identically to\u00a0<em>Magic<\/em>, but with enough differences to make it stand out a little from the crowd. Although\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegamer.com\/hearthstone-best-non-legendary-arena-neutral-cards\/\">Arena<\/a> <\/em>offers some degree of freedom in this area, the &#8220;historical&#8221; decks can&#8217;t be used for some aspects of progression in the game.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">6 <\/span>Hearthstone<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static2.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/hearthstone.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p>Arguable the big daddy of online CCG&#8217;s,\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/hearthstone\/\">Hearthstone<\/a> <\/em>took enough aspects of\u00a0<em>Magic <\/em>to make itself familiar but added enough elements to make it stand out from its inspirations.<\/p>\n<p><em>Hearthstone <\/em>also seems to have been the influence of many online CCG&#8217;s. While\u00a0this makes them feel a little too similar, it allows new players\u00a0familiar with similar titles to dive right into\u00a0<em>Hearthstone <\/em>with very little time needed to get acquainted with the mechanics.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">5 <\/span>Gwent<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static3.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/gwent-1.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p>Starting as a side game in what has been said to be the greatest RPG of all time, it grew so popular\u00a0that CD Projekt Red made <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/gwent\/\">Gwent<\/a> into its own game more than once. While <em>Thronebreaker <\/em>is a great solo experience\u00a0as a twist on the original game, there is also an online version that has gained popularity even outside of <em><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/the-witcher\/\">The Witcher<\/a><\/em> fanbase.<\/p>\n<p>If someone&#8217;s only experience with Gwent is in\u00a0<em>The Witcher 3<\/em>, they will be in for a surprise as the mechanics are altered slightly, although the general gameplay is basically the same.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">4 <\/span>Shadowverse<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static3.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/shadowverse.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p><em>Shadowverse <\/em>shares a lot in common with game derived from the\u00a0<em>Magic <\/em>formula, but is able to stand out as a brilliant solo and multiplayer experience. Each leader card in <em>Shadowverse <\/em>represents a different deck, and each deck has a unique playstyle that makes experimenting with each type a fun time for newcomers.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\">Related:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/rare-magic-gathering-cards-worth\/\">The 10 Rarest Magic: The Gathering Cards (And How Much They\u2019re Worth)<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>It leans heavily into its anime inspirations, making for some ridiculous plot points in story mode but also some of the best card graphics and artwork of all online CCG&#8217;s. <em>Shadowverse\u00a0<\/em>also manages the impossible task of having a monetization system that can be completely ignored in favor of its gameplay rewards system, if a user wants to keep playing the game for free.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">3 <\/span>The Elder Scrolls: Legends<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static0.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/elder-scrolls-legends.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p>Even though Bethesda might be having a rough time with its publicity as many are boycotting the company altogether, the card game version of <em><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/the-elder-scrolls\/\">The Elder Scrolls<\/a><\/em> is one of its high points of recent years.<\/p>\n<p>Taking cues from\u00a0<em>Magic\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0<em>Hearthstone<\/em>, <em>Legends\u00a0<\/em>plays almost identically in terms of battle mechanics, though several aspects help it to stand out from the crowd of similar games in the genre. Although the console ports of\u00a0<em>Legends <\/em>have\u00a0been canceled, the PC version is still up and running and worth playing\u00a0for those who enjoy the world of\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegamer.com\/skyrim-elder-scrolls-v-hilarious-memes-make-no-sense\/\">Elder Scrolls<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">2 <\/span>Faeria<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static0.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/faeria.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p>This is a unique one among online card games, as the gameplay not only involves the ever-popular mechanics that most on this list share but also adds a board building aspect.<\/p>\n<p>This secondary feature introduces another layer to player strategy, as monsters move across the board towards the opposing player in a way that&#8217;s reminiscent of Dungeon Dice Monsters from <em>Yu-Gi-Oh<\/em>, and they can only be placed on specific tile types.
