Another high-profile Xbox-exclusive FPS has joined <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/halo-infinite-release-date-rumors-when\/\"><em>Halo Infinite<\/em> in being delayed out of 2020<\/a>, that game being the next entry in Smilegate Entertainment\u2019s popular <em>Crossfire<\/em> series, <strong><em>CrossfireX<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><em>CrossfireX<\/em> is a collaboration between Smilegate and Remedy Entertainment, with Smilegate working on the series\u2019 trademark tactical multiplayer while <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegamer.com\/remedy-new-games-control-dlc\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Remedy develops a single-player campaign<\/a> designed to introduce <em>Crossfire<\/em>\u2019s narrative to a wider audience. Given the split nature of the project, its development was bound to be a little trickier than usual, but it hasn\u2019t helped that the COVID-19 pandemic has also caused unforeseen problems for the two companies.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/crossfirex-xbox-campaign-alan-wake\/\">Crossfire X Coming to Xbox This Year With Campaign from Alan Wake Devs<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>This probably won\u2019t be a surprising turn of events for anyone who\u2019s been keeping track of all of the <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/monster-hunter-rises-release-date-pushed-coronavirus\/\">games that have been delayed as a result of COVID-19<\/a> and the difficulties that come with trying to continue development in a work-from-home environment. It\u2019s for these reasons that Smiegate announced on the official <em>Crossfire<\/em> Twitter page that <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/crossfire-x\/\"><em>CrossfireX<\/em><\/a> is now on track to launch in 2021, adding that the delay will allow it and Remedy to \u201cdeliver the <em>Crossfire<\/em> experience on console our team set out to create.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PlayCrossfireX\/status\/1329500139883520002\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The delay to 2021 also puts the game\u2019s launch in closer proximity to the <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/amazon-announces-partnership-crossfirex-studio\/\">new game that Smilegate has partnered with Amazon to release<\/a> next year. What this game is still largely unknown, but the wording in Amazon\u2019s original announcement suggested that it could potentially be a live-service game.
