During Nintendo’s Direct Mini presentation last July<\/a>, the company announced that Shin Megami Tensei 3: Nocturne HD Remaster<\/strong><\/em> is coming to the Switch. Shortly after, developer Atlus also confirmed that the remaster of the 2003 game will also be released to the PS4. Although the remaster is already available in Asia, both the Switch and PS4 versions will be launched to the West sometime in 2021.<\/p>\n

Atlus has just released a quick update on Shin Megami Tensei 3 Remaster’s<\/em><\/a> technical development, especially since some players in territories where the game is now available reported some concerns. Apparently, the remaster has some issues with behavioral speech in certain places, which is believed to have been caused by numerous bugs. Previously, Atlus revealed that it is currently conducting an investigation and will verify the sources whether any of the claims regarding behavioral speech are true.<\/p>\n

Now, the studio has confirmed the technical issues and reassures players that it is currently working on an update patch to improve the Shin Megami Tensei 3 HD Remaster<\/em>. It is still unclear when this patch fix will be rolled out into the game. However, players on the West can rest easy\u00a0since it is likely that the issue will be resolved before the Shin Megami Tensei 3<\/em> remaster\u00a0is released in Spring 2021<\/a>. For those players in the West who don’t know much about the upcoming game,\u00a0Shin Megami Tensei 3 HD Remaster<\/em> will be filled with major graphical improvements and new features, introducing it to a new generation of players.<\/p>\n

According to Atlus, the Shin Megami Tensei 3<\/em> remaster will boost the game’s resolution from its original 480p output on the PS2 to an HD resolution on both the Switch and PS4. While Atlus still hasn’t revealed specific resolution outputs, the Switch version will likely sport a 720p resolution in handheld and 1080p while docked, and the PS4 will aim for 1080p, at the very least. Additionally, the HD remaster will also address the game’s infamous difficulty by introducing a new “Merciful” difficulty setting<\/a>. It is worth noting that this difficulty will only be available as a free day-1 DLC download.<\/p>\n

Lastly, the upcoming remaster will also add Japanese and English voice acting to Shin Megami Tensei 3 HD Remaster<\/em>. It is worth remembering that the original PS2 game featured little to no voice acting. It is currently unknown whether the Japanese voice track will also be added to the western version of the game. Still, given\u00a0Atlus’s commitment to dual-audio support following Persona 5<\/em><\/a>, it is likely that the same treatment will be given to Shin Megami Tensei 3 Remaster<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne HD Remaster<\/strong><\/em> is available now on PS4 and Switch in Japan and is scheduled to release in the west in Spring 2021.<\/p>\n
