Monster Hunter<\/em><\/strong> fans are in for quite the treat in the coming year, with two major\u00a0games releasing on\u00a0Nintendo Switch in 2021. Additionally, the recent Capcom leak revealed plans<\/a>\u00a0to release another Monster Hunter<\/em>\u00a0title in the second quarter of 2023.<\/p>\n

However, it seems a bit of unfortunate news about a well-received Monster Hunter<\/em> spin-off title has just been confirmed. According to a Gamereactor interview with\u00a0Monster Hunter<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>series Producer Ryozo Tsujimoto, the company has no plans to port the original Monster Hunter Stories<\/em> to Nintendo Switch.<\/p>\n

Capcom was a major part of one of Nintendo\u2019s Partner Direct showcases in September. During the presentation, Capcom announced two Monster Hunter<\/em> games headed to Switch next year. One of those titles, Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin<\/em><\/a>, is a sequel to the well-received Monster Hunter Stories<\/em>\u00a0on Nintendo 3DS. Unfortunately, for those who own a Switch but missed out on Monster Hunter Stories<\/em>, it seems Capcom has no intention of porting the 3DS title to Switch.<\/p>\n

Tsujimoto said, \u201cThere are no plans at the moment to bring the original Monster Hunter Stories<\/em> to the Nintendo Switch.\u201d The statement is pretty cut and dry, though there is a bit of room to suggest that if demand is high enough the possibility of a future port is not out of the question. Still, with the 3DS’ unique dual-screen hardware, a direct port on Switch would probably be difficult, as\u00a0aspects of Monster Hunter Stories<\/em><\/a> would have to be changed to accommodate one screen.<\/p>\n

Thankfully, Tsujimoto does offer a bit of good news for those who may have missed the original Monster Hunter Stories<\/em>. He confirms that Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin<\/em><\/a> features a separate storyline and protagonist, so those who missed out on the original can jump into the sequel without issue. Still, those who own a 3DS may want to consider picking up Monster Hunter Stories<\/em>,\u00a0as the spin-off does a lot to build upon Monster Hunter<\/em>\u2019s world.<\/p>\n

Fans of Monster Hunter<\/em> can expect Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin<\/em> to release sometime in summer 2021. While that\u2019s a ways off, Capcom has faced some challenges due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. In fact, Monster Hunter Rise<\/em> was delayed from its original release date<\/a>\u00a0to March because of the pandemic, so it\u2019s safe to assume that Monster Hunter Stories 2<\/em> may have also been impacted. Those who want a taste of what the Monster Hunter<\/em><\/strong> spin-off series has to offer still have time to try out the original Monster Hunter Stories<\/em> on 3DS before then.<\/p>\n
