If you have a lot of photos tied up in other services, fear not. Google has made it easy to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.androidcentral.com\/how-move-your-facebook-photos-and-videos-google-photos\" georiot-ignore=\"true\" class=\"norewrite\">import photos from other services like Facebook<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.androidcentral.com\/transfer-photos-onedrive-google-drive-and-google-photos\" georiot-ignore=\"true\" class=\"norewrite\">OneDrive<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>You can <a href=\"https:\/\/www.androidcentral.com\/how-archive-google-photos\" georiot-ignore=\"true\" class=\"norewrite\">archive photos<\/a> that you don&#8217;t want in your main gallery but that you might want to access later, or you can easily <a href=\"https:\/\/www.androidcentral.com\/google-photos-clean-tips-save-yourself-storage-deleting-local-copies-and-screenshots\" georiot-ignore=\"true\" class=\"norewrite\">get rid of unwanted images like old screenshots<\/a>. Another great way to save space on your phone is to take advantaged of Google Photos&#8217; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.androidcentral.com\/how-free-space-google-photos-free-space-feature\" georiot-ignore=\"true\" class=\"norewrite\">Free Up Space<\/a> feature, which can automatically remove photos and videos from your device once they&#8217;ve been safely uploaded to the cloud.<\/p>\n<p>Google Photos&#8217; machine learning is incredibly adept at identifying people, places, pets, and things, but you can also easily correct any errors or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.androidcentral.com\/how-manually-tag-people-and-faces-google-photos\" georiot-ignore=\"true\" class=\"norewrite\">manually tag photos<\/a> as you wish.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"cost\"><em>Google Photos<\/em> Cost<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.androidcentral.com\/google-photos\" title=\"Google Photos: Everything you need to know!\" georiot-ignore=\"true\" class=\"norewrite\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.androidcentral.com\/sites\/androidcentral.com\/files\/styles\/large_wm_brw\/public\/article_images\/2020\/02\/google-one-storage-plans-hero.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Since it was first rolled out back in 2015, Google Photos offered free unlimited storage for photos and videos, but with a few caveats. The first caveat was that this unlimited storage only applied to &#8220;high-quality&#8221; images. The second caveat was that If you wanted to back up all of your photos in &#8220;original quality,&#8221; you&#8217;d have to pay for more storage or be using a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.androidcentral.com\/google-photos-now-reason-buy-pixel-phone\" georiot-ignore=\"true\" class=\"norewrite\">Google Pixel<\/a> phone.<\/p>\n<p>With a <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.google\/products\/photos\/storage-changes\" georiot-ignore=\"true\" class=\"norewrite\">recently announced policy change<\/a>, all photos, be they high-quality or original-quality, will count against a user&#8217;s 15GB free allowance across their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.androidcentral.com\/should-i-pay-additional-google-one-storage\" georiot-ignore=\"true\" class=\"norewrite\">Google One<\/a> storage as of mid-2021. In addition to the new storage limitations, it has been rumored that some new or existing editing features may be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.androidcentral.com\/some-google-photos-editing-features-may-soon-be-paywalled\" georiot-ignore=\"true\" class=\"norewrite\">locked behind a paywall<\/a>. Many have argued that even with a price tag, Google Photos remains an amazing service that is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.androidcentral.com\/google-photos-still-better-competition-even-if-you-have-pay\" georiot-ignore=\"true\" class=\"norewrite\">worth paying for<\/a>. Just because features are hidden a bit under the surface doesn&#8217;t mean that you shouldn&#8217;t check them out, though.<\/p>\n<p>Google recently revamped the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.androidcentral.com\/how-find-and-use-new-google-photos-editing-features\" georiot-ignore=\"true\" class=\"norewrite\">editing tools<\/a> within Google Photos, allowing you to take advantage of powerful AI and machine learning to apply automatically suggested edits or even adjust portrait lighting after the fact. You can <a href=\"https:\/\/www.androidcentral.com\/how-create-collages-animations-and-movies-google-photos\" georiot-ignore=\"true\" class=\"norewrite\">create your own fun animations, collages, and &#8220;movies&#8221;<\/a> as well.<\/p>\n<p>One of our favorite features is the &#8220;on this day&#8221; style <a href=\"https:\/\/www.androidcentral.com\/how-find-your-recent-highlights-google-photos\" georiot-ignore=\"true\" class=\"norewrite\">flashbacks and recent highlights<\/a> that you can see as soon as you open the Google Photos app on your device. It&#8217;s also great fun to set up <a href=\"https:\/\/www.androidcentral.com\/how-set-google-photos-your-nest-hub-or-other-smart-display\" georiot-ignore=\"true\" class=\"norewrite\">photo slideshows<\/a> that you can see throughout the day on your Nest Hub or smart screened <a href=\"https:\/\/www.androidcentral.com\/best-google-assistant-speakers\" georiot-ignore=\"true\" class=\"norewrite\">Google Assistant speakers<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>There is also the new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.androidcentral.com\/how-use-map-browse-photos-places-google-photos\" georiot-ignore=\"true\" class=\"norewrite\">Google Maps integrations<\/a>, that lets you rediscover your memories as hotspots on the world map.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, we&#8217;d be remiss if we didn&#8217;t revisit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.androidcentral.com\/how-use-google-lens-google-photos\" georiot-ignore=\"true\" class=\"norewrite\">Google Lens<\/a> \u2014 a fantastic AI tool to learn more about the images in your library.
