Pok\u00e9mon<\/a><\/em>\u00a0has been one of the biggest gaming franchises ever since it started back in 1996. Naturally, it has a large fandom, which\u00a0is currently enjoying the recently released DLC for\u00a0Pok\u00e9mon Sword & Shield<\/a>. The Crown Tundra\u00a0<\/em>added a whole new area, Pok\u00e9mon, additional forms, story content, and more, giving players a host of content to keep them busy, for a little while at least.<\/p>\n

One thing that has plagued the\u00a0Pok\u00e9mon\u00a0<\/em>series since the beginning is its inability to accurately portray the true size of its\u00a0Pok\u00e9mon, with both the games and the anime<\/a> often changing the size of Pok\u00e9mon. When\u00a0players start to look closer at Pok\u00e9dex entries, they’ll see there are many Pok\u00e9mon that are smaller than first thought. Check out these examples just below.<\/p>\n

10 <\/span>Snorlax<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Snorlax is one of the original 151\u00a0Pok\u00e9mon from the Kanto<\/a> region and has always been thought of as a pretty beefy monster\u00a0as it blocks the pathways for players in the games. However, in both the games and the anime, Snorlax has been shown as larger than the Pok\u00e9dex actually lists\u00a0it at.<\/p>\n

Snorlax stands at\u00a06’11” according to the\u00a0Pok\u00e9dex, so although\u00a0it’s taller than\u00a0the average\u00a0human character,\u00a0it’s actually smaller than\u00a0fans are led to believe based on its representation in both the games and the anime.<\/p>\n

9 <\/span>Aerodactyl<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Aerodactyl is one of the original 151\u00a0monsters that appeared in Pok\u00e9mon Red & Blue<\/em>, making it one of the first fossil type\u00a0Pok\u00e9mon<\/a>. In the early games, it was very hard to gauge the size of\u00a0Pok\u00e9mon unless you read the Pok\u00e9dex as they weren’t shown in the overworld like they are in more modern titles.<\/p>\n

Given that Aerodactyl’s Pok\u00e9dex entry often refers to it as having been “the king of the skies,” many players would be forgiven for believing it to be a much larger\u00a0Pok\u00e9mon. In actual fact, Aerodactyl is listed as being only\u00a05’11”, making it far smaller than the games would have you believe.<\/p>\n

8 <\/span>Gengar<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Gengar is one of the most recognizable Ghost-type\u00a0Pok\u00e9mon<\/a> in the series and has been around since the very beginning. It would surprise many to learn that Gengar is smaller than most fans presume and that it is actually smaller than Haunter, its previous evolutionary form.<\/p>\n

In Pok\u00e9mon Sun & Moon<\/em>, Gengar and Haunter look roughly around the same height. However, due to\u00a0the latter hovering in the air, it makes Haunter appear smaller than Gengar. In actual fact, Gengar’s Pok\u00e9dex entry has it listed at\u00a04’11”, while Haunter measures at\u00a05’03”.<\/p>\n

7 <\/span>Lucario<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Lucario is a firm fan-favorite and has been ever since it debuted in generation four with the release of\u00a0Pok\u00e9mon Diamond & Pearl<\/em>.\u00a0When seen in the overworld in\u00a0Pok\u00e9mon Sword & Shield,\u00a0<\/em>Lucario isn’t much shorter than the trainer.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Pok\u00e9dex entry for Lucario lists its height as 3’11”, which means it should be a much shorter height when compared to the human characters in the game. Lucario’s\u00a0portrayal in the anime varies<\/a>, with it often appearing as half the height of its trainer at times, whereas other times\u00a0it is the same height as its trainer.<\/p>\n

6 <\/span>Braixen<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Braixen is the middle evolution of the Fire-type<\/a> starter Fennekin that debuted in\u00a0Pok\u00e9mon X & Y.\u00a0<\/em>In both the anime and the games, Braixen is shown to be considerably taller than it should be, with it being approximately the same height as Serena in the TV series.<\/p>\n

According to the\u00a0Pok\u00e9dex, Braixen is actually smaller than Lucario, and should only be\u00a03’03” in\u00a0height, roughly three times the size of its smaller pre-evolution Fennekin that is listed as\u00a01’04” tall.<\/p>\n

5 <\/span>Bellossom<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Bellossom is an adorable grass-type\u00a0Pok\u00e9mon that is one of the branching evolutions of Gloom when given a Sun Stone<\/a>. Bellossom is actually a lot smaller than most would believe, as it is one of the few occasions when a\u00a0Pok\u00e9mon is smaller than the creature\u00a0it evolved from.<\/p>\n

Bellossom’s\u00a0Pok\u00e9dex entry lists it at\u00a01’04”, whereas Gloom is listed at 2’07”. Even the first in the evolutionary line, Oddish, is bigger than Bellossom, with the\u00a0Pok\u00e9dex listing the former at 1’08”.<\/p>\n

4 <\/span>Roselia<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Roselia is a Grass\/Poison-type<\/a> Pok\u00e9mon that was first introduced in Pok\u00e9mon Ruby & Sapphire<\/em>. In the games, Roselia is shown to be larger than it truly is. For instance, Hattrem’s\u00a0Pok\u00e9dex lists its size as\u00a02’00”, but Roselia’s\u00a0Pok\u00e9dex has it measuring at\u00a01’00”.<\/p>\n

This means that Roselia should be half the size of Hattrem, but in\u00a0the screenshot above it is only a little shorter. Roselia evolves from Budew when leveled up with high friendship, only gaining a couple of inches in size as Budew’s\u00a0Pok\u00e9dex entry has it measuring at\u00a00’08”.<\/p>\n

3 <\/span>Mimikyu<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Mimikyu and Pikachu are often shown as being roughly the same size in the games, which isn’t all that surprising considering that Mimikyu is mimicking Pikachu. However, the two should actually have a noticeable difference in size.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Pok\u00e9dex states that Mimkyu should be\u00a00’08” and Pikachu should be\u00a01’04”. It could be argued that the false Pikachu “head” that Mimikyu wears as part of its deception is not counted in the measurement for its Pok\u00e9dex entry, but generally, when it comes to Pok\u00e9mon, the whole of them is counted in their listed size.<\/p>\n

2 <\/span>Joltik<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

When Joltik is seen in battle or in the wild area in Pok\u00e9mon Sun & Moon<\/em>, it is definitely on the small side, but it is actually portrayed as larger than it should be. This is likely because it’s true size would make it too small for it to be noticeable to players, so it was probably made larger for the game for ease.<\/p>\n

This Bug\/Electric-type is actually a mere\u00a00’04” big, which is fairly big for the bugs that we know<\/a> from the real-world. However, when it comes to\u00a0Pok\u00e9mon, it makes Joltik one of the smallest in the entire Pok\u00e9dex.<\/p>\n

1 <\/span>Comfey<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Another\u00a0Pok\u00e9mon that has likely been made larger so that players can see it more clearly in the wild is Comfey. It’s still fairly small and is all too easy to miss if you’re speeding around on your room bike, but it’s actually far larger than it should be.<\/p>\n

According to the Pok\u00e9dex, Comfey should only be\u00a00’04”. It could be argued that if you ignore the floral crown that this\u00a0Pok\u00e9mon holds, it is closer to the size it should be, but as a whole, it is most definitely the wrong size.<\/p>\n
