With the country&#8217;s notoriously strict censorship laws, <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/playstation-4-china-release-date-delayed\/\">video game consoles frequently launch late for its occupants<\/a>, and even when they do hit the market there&#8217;s a small number of games available due to heavy restrictions by the government.<\/p>\n<p>While the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/xbox-one-series-x-black-friday\/\">Xbox One<\/a> and PlayStation 4\u00a0launched in China around a year after their respective releases in other countries,\u00a0recent reports hint that\u00a0Xbox\u00a0might be looking to get the <strong>Xbox Series X<\/strong> on the\u00a0Chinese market sooner than it did with its previous console. Revealed by industry analyst Daniel Ahmad on Twitter Tuesday, Microsoft has recently acquired a 3C certification for two consoles this year, meaning the hardware has been approved for sale in the country.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/call-duty-mobile-50-million-china\/\">Call of Duty Mobile Pre-Registrations Exceed 50 Million in China<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>As Ahmad points out, this doesn&#8217;t necessarily mean that the console&#8217;s release is coming anytime soon. While the <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/xbox-series-x\/\">Xbox Series X<\/a> could technically be sold whenever Microsoft\u00a0chooses,\u00a0that doesn&#8217;t extend to\u00a0the games accompanying it. Every single title that releases in the country must be approved\u00a0by a regulator, and as Ahmad said in his Twitter thread, the process is more arduous than that of the ESRB in the US considering China&#8217;s strict censorship laws.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ZhugeEX\/status\/1331319133275910155\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ZhugeEX\/status\/1331319135943462915\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>As such, games take a long time to be approved for sale, with Ahmad noting the process\u00a0can take &#8220;6+ months.&#8221; He goes on to say,\u00a0&#8220;In a year you can only expect around 30 console games to be approved across the board.&#8221; Taking that into account, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegamer.com\/series-x-performance-issues\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Microsoft will likely hold off on the Xbox Series X<\/a> until it&#8217;s sure those wanting to purchase a\u00a0console in China have enough games to make it worthwhile, with Ahmad predicting that may\u00a0come next year.<\/p>\n<p>As for the Xbox Series X, the console has had a strong showing in its first few weeks on the market. Although <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/xbox-series-x-ps5-stock-twitch-bot\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">stock shortages have been an issue for both Sony and Microsoft&#8217;s flagship consoles<\/a>, those who have their hands on the Xbox Series X have reported it to be a powerful piece of hardware with some great features.<\/p>\n<p>However, many have been unimpressed with the system&#8217;s lack of new games,\u00a0as there are not many major exclusive that showcases what a significant step up in hardware the Series X is.
