Formerly a developer on the rework of\u00a0Anthem<\/strong><\/em>, Christian Dailey has now become executive producer of the\u00a0Dragon Age<\/strong><\/em> team. This move comes alongside news that Casey Hudson and Mark Darrah will be leaving Bioware.<\/p>\n

Casey Hudson announced in a blog post earlier today<\/a> that he and Mark Darrah would be stepping down from Bioware in order to pursue other opportunities.\u00a0It was Mark Darrah’s departure that led to Christian Dailey’s position being changed. Darrah was previously the executive producer of the\u00a0Dragon Age<\/em><\/a> series, but with his departure, the role needed to be filled, and Dailey was chosen to take his place.<\/p>\n

Anthem<\/em> initially launched to rather mediocre reviews, and since then, Bioware and Dailey specifically, have slowly announced plans to update the game in order to address many of the complaints.\u00a0Bioware has detailed some of the changes that\u00a0it wants to make, such as making new abilities unlockable instead of world drops. Like in\u00a0Dragon Age,<\/em> Bioware also intends to introduce specializations to\u00a0Anthem<\/em><\/a>. These changes and more are still being tested by the team and no release details have been announced.<\/p>\n

Dragon Age 4,<\/em> on the other hand, is still relatively early in development and so not much is known. A Dragon Age 4<\/em> teaser<\/a> of sorts was released earlier this year, but it revealed very little besides some character and environment designs. Based on the ending of\u00a0Dragon Age: Inquisiton<\/em>‘s\u00a0Trespasser<\/em> DLC and a teaser at the 2018 Game Awards, Bioware has made it clear though that the next entry in the series will focus on the Dread Wolf, whose identity was revealed in the conclusion to the aforementioned DLC.<\/p>\n

While\u00a0Dragon Age: Inquisition<\/em> did very well for itself<\/a>, including winning several Game of the Year awards, the perception of Bioware has been\u00a0wavering in some gamers’ minds.\u00a0This decline likely began in 2011 after the lukewarm reception by fans of\u00a0Dragon Age 2,\u00a0<\/em>followed by the negative reception of Mass Effect 3<\/em>‘s original ending. Hopefully, these changes in staff will not negatively impact the future of\u00a0Anthem<\/em>, Mass Effect<\/em>,\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0Dragon Age<\/em>.<\/p>\n

That being said though, it is important to note that\u00a0Dragon Age<\/em>‘s lead writer, Patrick Weekes, is still on-board for\u00a0Dragon Age 4<\/em> and\u00a0has a successful history with the company, having written several characters for both the\u00a0Mass Effect<\/em> and\u00a0Dragon Age<\/em> series.\u00a0He also wrote the excellent companion novel,\u00a0Dragon Age: The Masked Empire<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0was the lead writer on the\u00a0Trespasser\u00a0<\/em>DLC. Weekes’ work on\u00a0Trespasser<\/em> bodes especially well for the future of\u00a0Dragon Age 4<\/em> given it served largely as a setup for the next entry in the series.<\/p>\n

Anthem<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>is now available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. No release date for\u00a0Dragon Age 4\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>has been announced.<\/p>\n
