It&#8217;s Ubisoft&#8217;s latest open-world action game in 2020, the third in less than two months. And much like <em>Watch Dogs: Legion<\/em> and <em>Assassin&#8217;s Creed Valhalla<\/em>, <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/immortals-fenyx-rising\/\"><em>Immortals Fenyx Rising<\/em><\/a> has a disappointing limitation. It&#8217;s now confirmed that <em>Immortals Fenyx Rising<\/em> runs at a crisp 4K resolution on PlayStation 5, but on Xbox Series X, Ubisoft has once again struggled, instead offering a dynamic resolution that drops below 4K.<\/p>\n<p>According to an analysis done by YouTube channel VG Tech, <em>Immortals Fenyx Rising<\/em>&#8216;s Quality Mode showed a clear difference between the <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/immortals-fenyx-rising-free-next-gen-upgrade\/\">PS5 and Xbox Series X<\/a>. The PS5 delivered a consistent 4K resolution, with VG Tech being unable to find a scene where the resolution dropped. The Xbox Series X, however, did drop. It went as low as 3328&#215;1872, which is still an impressive resolution but also still a big drop below 4K. Both platforms likely use dynamic resolution, but the PS5 is simply better optimized.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/immortals-fenyx-rising-twitch-extension-hunt-monsters\/\">Immortals Fenyx Rising Twitch Extension Lets Viewers Hunt Monsters<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>A notable difference was also found in <em>Immortals Fenyx Rising<\/em>&#8216;s <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/assassins-creed-valhalla-graphics-performance-modes-ps5-xbox-series-x-s\/\">Performance Mode<\/a>, which trades resolution for a consistent 60 FPS. In performance mode, the PS5 was measured to drop as low as 2275&#215;1280, while the Xbox Series X dropped as low as 1920&#215;1080. Neither platform reliably delivered 4K resolution in this mode, but the PS5 more consistently delivered better resolution than the Xbox Series X. This is while still delivering 60 FPS.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"480\" height=\"270\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/N06yMnlz5b0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Given that these details had to be discovered by content creators, it&#8217;s fair to say that Ubisoft has not made it clear why <em>Immortals Fenyx Rising<\/em> has <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/assassins-creed-valhalla-xbox-series-x-performance-patch\/\">worse performance on Xbox Series X<\/a>. It&#8217;s also unlikely that Ubisoft will ever provide a reason, given that it&#8217;s not a topic that&#8217;s typically discussed by big publishers. Nevertheless, for Xbox Series X players of <em>Immortals Fenyx Rising<\/em> the news is certain to be somewhat disappointing.<\/p>\n<p><em>Immortals Fenyx Rising<\/em>, as noted, isn&#8217;t the first next-gen Ubisoft game to perform worse on the Xbox Series X. Both <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/watch-dogs-legion-ps5-xbox-series-x-performance-4k-30fps\/\"><em>Watch Dogs: Legion<\/em><\/a> and <em>Assassin&#8217;s Creed Valhalla<\/em> perform worse on Xbox Series X compared to PS5, in both small and large ways. <em>Assassin&#8217;s Creed Valhalla<\/em> specifically has very similar resolution drops to <em>Immortals Fenyx Rising<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Regardless of the unfortunate disparity between platforms, which Ubisoft will hopefully improve in future games, <em>Immortals Fenyx Rising<\/em> does offer overall impressive visuals.
