Genshin Impact\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>players recently got to delve into the game’s first significant\u00a0special\u00a0event, Unreconciled Stars. While other\u00a0multifold events are surely expected in the future, it seems that Travelers will have several smaller-scale events to occupy themselves with\u00a0in the meantime.<\/p>\n

miHoYo introduced not only an essential in-game item, but also entirely new modes of gameplay, with its\u00a0Unreconciled Stars event. While not quite as expansive, it seems that the newly arrived Genshin Impact<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>Gliding Challenge will simply offer some convenient rewards, though it does introduce some new event-exclusive gliding mechanics.<\/p>\n

Travelers aiming for full completion of the Genshin Impact\u00a0<\/em>Gliding Challenge event<\/a> will need to score Gold Medals on every one of the seven courses released during the event. The Gliding Challenge asks players to progress through a gliding course as quickly as possible, while collecting bonus golden “insignias” along the way. While the game text\u00a0implies that both timeliness\u00a0and insignia collection are imperative to Gold Medal success,\u00a0sharp fans have realized that that is not the case.\u00a0This\u00a0softens the challenge’s blow considerably.<\/p>\n

It seems that players can earn a Gold Medal through sheer gliding timeliness simply by finishing courses fast enough to garner a Gold-level amount of points. The golden insignias found along the gliding tracks are not required for a Gold Medal finish.<\/strong>\u00a0Players will still need to score\u00a030,000 points\u00a0at least one time, which requires some seriously fast travel\u00a0technique<\/a>, but nonetheless, this comes as a relief to swaths of Travelers who were reportedly resetting the Challenge every time they missed an insignia. Scoring a Gold Medal, or 30,000 points, also awards the two\u00a0lower-tier medals, which are normally earned at 10,000 and 20,000 points, respectively.\u00a0So, once a player reaches Gold on a track a single time, they can rest assured they possess its\u00a0Bronze, Silver,\u00a0and Gold Medals.<\/p>\n

Although the Gliding Challenge, which is managed by a new wandering\u00a0NPC\u00a0known as Hughes, lasts 11\u00a0days total, its entire selection of tracks only becomes available on Day\u00a07 of the event (December 10, 2020). That is, Hughes will introduce Travelers to a new course on each of the first seven days of the Gliding Challenge<\/a>, each of which can be completed for a Bronze, Silver, and Gold “Insignia” (Medal, in this guide), depending on total points.<\/p>\n

Those hoping to earn the full gamut of rewards for each racetrack should be\u00a0fully aware of this technicality, as some courses seem to\u00a0present wonderful opportunities for shortcuts, especially given the event-exclusive ability to ascend and boost mid-glide.<\/p>\n

Travelers will also appreciate the fact that, whereas previous similar events, like Marvelous Merchandise<\/a>, featured wandering NPCs who dealt players simple quests (e.g. deliver\u00a010\u00a0pinecones) in exchange for minor rewards, it seems that the Gliding Challenge offers a bit more of a substantial set of prizes. Players can actually earn three distinct sets of rewards for completing each gliding course, the first of which always includes 60 Primogems. That’s a base minimum of 420 Primogems, simply for earning Bronze\u00a0on all seven tracks – and while the latter stages of rewards don’t offer additional Primogems, they do award Talent Ascension Materials<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Genshin Impact\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>is available now on the App Store, Google Play, PC, and PS4, and is currently in development for PS5 and Switch.<\/p>\n
