The Drawn to Life<\/em><\/strong> series was pretty popular back in the days of the Wii and Nintendo DS<\/a> for the way it gave players the ability to design their own hero and platforming elements in order to navigate colorful 2D worlds. Since then, however, those original games have largely fallen into obscurity, but it\u2019s possible that the release of Drawn to Life: Two Realms<\/em> this week could see them make a return on modern systems.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s been eleven years since the series last got a new title, but the wait will be ending in two days time with Two Realms<\/em>. Whereas the previous games were developed by 5th Cell<\/a>, this time around development is being handled by New York-based studio Digital Continue, whose founder, Joseph Tringali, was an executive producer on those earlier titles.<\/p>\n

During an interview with Nintendo Everything, Tringali was asked about those games and whether they might ever get re-released on the Switch, a console known for its many ports of older titles<\/a>. He replied by saying that he\u2019s given it \u201ca good amount of thought\u201d and would \u201clove to tackle\u201d a re-release. It couldn\u2019t be a direct port, he explained, since the original games were so reliant on the DS\u2019 touchscreen and stylus, but \u201cthere are some cool ideas that I think could work well.\u201d<\/p>\n

Along with bringing back the older games, he said that he would also love to do a \u201cbigger sequel\u201d as a followup to Drawn to Life:\u00a0Two Realms<\/em><\/a>, as well as games that could expand beyond the series’\u00a0traditional platformer gameplay. However, he made it clear that any future plans will be dependent on Two Realms<\/em>\u2019 reception and whether or not enough people are interested in seeing more Drawn to Life<\/em> in 2020 and beyond.<\/p>\n

Drawn to Life: Two Realms<\/em><\/strong> will launch on December 7 for Mobile, PC, and Switch.<\/p>\n
