The holidays produce some of SNL\u2019s best sketches, including the infamous <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/unforgettable-movie-star-skits-saturday-night-live-snl\/\">\u201cSchweddy Balls\u201d sketch, where Alec Baldwin brings\u00a0his\u00a0salty snacks on an NPR show<\/a>. Things were a bit more special this year though, because this weekend\u2019s episode featured a sketch about the most in-demand gift this Christmas, the\u00a0<strong>PlayStation 5<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The episode was hosted by <em>Arrested Development<\/em> and <em>Ozark<\/em> star, Jason Bateman, and featured American country music singer Morgan Wallen as the musical guest. Though this new bit is about the <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/ps5\/\">PS5<\/a>, video games are no stranger to <em>Saturday Night Live<\/em>. A sketch earlier this year featured <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/saturday-night-live-jj-watt-sketch-madden-nfl-21\/\">NFL superstar JJ Watt recording some bizarre lines for <em>Madden 21<\/em><\/a>. That same season also featured a sketch about a basketball announcer (played by Chance the Wrapper) trying to cover a <em>League of Legends<\/em> match.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/saturday-night-live-league-of-legends-esports\/\">Saturday Night Live Sketch Makes Fun of League of Legends Esports<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>This week\u2019s episode though featured a very topical gaming issue, and that is <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/ps5-playstation-ceo-completely-sold-out\/\">how hard it is to get a PS5 this Christmas<\/a>. Jason Bateman plays a jolly Santa Claus who receives a rather strange Christmas letter. The sketch quickly turns into a parody of rapper Eminem\u2019s classic song \u201cStan,\u201d a song about an obsessive and suicidal super-fan. This version is instead about someone named Stu (played by <em>SNL\u2019s <\/em>Pete Davidson) who is obsessed with Santa Claus, provided he can provide him with his one wish, a PS5 for Christmas.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"480\" height=\"270\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/1OJ7aW3Df5U?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The sketch even covers the trials of Stu trying to obtain a PS5, like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegamer.com\/sony-apologizes-ps5-pre-orders-promises-more-on-the-way\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">how difficult and messy it was to try and preorder a PS5<\/a> from sites like Walmart. Stu even mentions walking into GameStop before realizing he could just ask Santa, expecting him to provide. The parody follows the same trajectory as the Eminem original, as Stu grows meaner, angrier, and more desperate as Santa ignores his letters. Stu eventually threatens to light Santa on fire and threatens to go driving after drinking a \u201cfifth\u201d of eggnog.<\/p>\n<p>Instead of getting significantly darker as the Eminem original does, the parody then cuts to a breakdown by Sir Elton John (played SNL writer and now actor by Bowen Yang) singing about how he also loves Santa, and also would like a PS5.
