The game was originally announced seven years ago with a <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/cyberpunk-2077-trailers-release-date\/\">cinematic teaser trailer<\/a>, and while it was meant to launch earlier in 2020, it has been delayed numerous times. The long wait for\u00a0<em>Cyberpunk 2077<\/em> is finally coming to an end on Thursday, December 10, but unfortunately, not everyone that wanted to will actually get to play the game.<\/p>\n<p>A Twitter post is gaining traction that shows a heartbreaking comment\u00a0on the\u00a0<em>Cyberpunk 2077<\/em> teaser trailer from back in 2013. The comment is from user MithaToca, who claims that their friend was looking forward to\u00a0<em>Cyberpunk 2077<\/em>, and only became more excited after they found out <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/keanu-reeves-cyberpunk-2077-loves-it\/\">Keanu Reeves<\/a> was in the game. Unfortunately, MithaToca&#8217;s friend tragically passed away from COVID-19 before the game was out. &#8220;I will play it for you buddy. RIP.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/cyberpunk-2077-map-leak\/\">Cyberpunk 2077 In-Game Map Images Leak Online<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/cyberpunk-2077\/\"><em>Cyberpunk 2077<\/em><\/a> is one of the top trends on Twitter right now, as fans are expressing their excitement for the game&#8217;s launch later this week. This tweet, posted by user patrickak639, is one of\u00a0the first posts users see when clicking on the trend, with nearly 3,000 likes, over 200 re-tweets, and over 200 comments at the time of this writing.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/patrickak639\/status\/1335872615085326340\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Sadly, MithaToca&#8217;s friend isn&#8217;t the first\u00a0<em>Cyberpunk 2077<\/em> fan who passed away before they could play the game. Recently, the\u00a0<em>Cyberpunk 2077<\/em> community rallied behind a grieving father who shared that his son Johnny passed away before getting the chance to play the game. Fans have called for CD Projekt Red to create an in-game tribute to Johnny in the game, though it&#8217;s unclear if that will come to pass.<\/p>\n<p>While Johnny may or may not be immortalized in an official\u00a0<em>Cyberpunk 2077<\/em> tribute from CD Projekt Red, he will be featured in the Cyberpunk RED tabletop RPG. According to a developer of the board game, Johnny will be featured as part of the Aldecaldo Family in the tabletop RPG.\u00a0Members of the\u00a0<em>Cyberpunk 2077<\/em> community will be honoring Johnny by Street Kid playthroughs, as that is how Johnny intended on playing the game himself.<\/p>\n<p>Over the years, there have been many <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/video-game-memorials-gamers\/\">in-game tributes to deceased fans in video games<\/a>. Sometimes this comes in the form of an item named after the fallen player, or a digital memorial easter egg that players can find in the games, whereas other times these in-game tributes see the person featured as an NPC.
