While\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/dragon-quest\/\">Dragon Quest<\/a><\/em> has always had a following in Japan, somewhat recently it is garnered fans across the globe. Originally called <em>Dragon Warrior<\/em> in North America, the series is now called by its proper title, and the latest entry\u00a0<em>Dragon Quest XI\u00a0<\/em>was well-received. Shortly after its release, the <em>Definitive Edition <\/em>took the place of the original, which contains a multitude of improved gameplay experiences.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/dragon-quest-12-confirmed-release\/\">Dragon Quest 12 Confirmed<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Nintendo made the announcement via its official Twitter account, where it said\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/dragon-quest-11-digital-storefront-delisting\/\">Dragon Quest\u00a011 S: Echoes of an Elusive Age Definitive Edition<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>and <em>Dragon Quest Builders 2, <\/em>a spin-off action role-playing sandbox game, will have their prices slashed. The new price for both titles is $49.99 on Switch. This cut may seem small to some, but any price drop is\u00a0likely a good one. Both games are also available on other systems, but there&#8217;s no word yet on whether they will also see a reduction in price. For now this is Nintendo exclusive, which is fitting considering the series got its start on the NES.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NintendoAmerica\/status\/1336067974105620482\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>With a revamped live orchestra soundtrack, battle speed customization, a photo mode, and several other quality-of-life changes, <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/dragon-quest-11-s-definitive-edition-review\/\"><em>Dragon Quest 11 S: Echoes of an Elusive Age Definitive Edition <\/em>received positive reviews<\/a>. With additional stories and many other new features, in many ways, it&#8217;s how the game should be experienced.<\/p>\n<p>The second title to be discounted, <em>Dragon Quest Builders 2<\/em>, is a sequel to the recent spin-off series and improves upon its predecessor many ways. The story, while inspired by <em>Dragon Quest <\/em>lore, takes a backseat to the player&#8217;s ability to let their creativity flow. The experience can be short-lived or long, depending on how a player invests their time. In the same vein as <em>Minecraft<\/em>, there are a lot of ways to build, with one <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/dragon-quest-builders-2-a-link-to-the-past-recreation\/\">player recreating\u00a0<em>A Link to the Past<\/em><\/a> using what the game had to offer.<\/p>\n<p>As for the future of the series, 2021 marks a big anniversary, so fans are expecting plenty of announcements. According to franchise creator Yuji Horii, there is a lot is planned for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegamer.com\/dragon-quest-creator-hints-2021-announcements-35th-anniversary\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Dragon Quest <\/em>35th anniversary<\/a>.
