The big day has finally arrived. After being first teased all the way back in 2012, Cyberpunk 2077<\/em><\/strong> is here, and players are flooding into Night City at a record-breaking pace, making Cyberpunk<\/em> the first single-player game on Steam to reach a million consecutive players<\/a>. It\u2019s not all good news, though, since it has its fair share of technical issues, and it turns out that these even extend outside of the game itself to PC players\u2019 desktop screens.<\/p>\n

It goes without saying that Cyberpunk<\/em> has far more moving parts than the average game, given not just its open-world design but the ambitious amount of detail CD Projekt Red has put into its world, narrative structure, and customization options. The game was bound to come out with a lot of bugs, and while the bug problem hasn\u2019t stopped Cyberpunk 2077<\/em> from receiving loads of positive reviews<\/a>, it\u2019s become a noticeable part of the conversation in the past week. It\u2019s also why PC players have noticed that the game\u2019s Steam desktop shortcut is strangely blurry.<\/p>\n

Compared to the other glitches that critics and players have reported, it\u2019s a pretty minor problem, but one that will leave plenty of players frustrated still. Luckily, there\u2019s already a fix, courtesy of Cyberpunk<\/em>\u2019s fledgling modding community<\/a>. Mere hours after the game launched, Nexus Mods user kostas96b has provided a mod that addresses this specific issue, swapping out the blurred icon for one with a proper resolution and removing the hazy eyesore from players\u2019 computer screens.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s more, players don\u2019t even have to stick with anything Cyberpunk 2077<\/em><\/a>-related for the desktop icon if they\u2019d rather. As spotted by PC Gamer, there\u2019s another mod that lets players swap out the official artwork of V with a funny photo of Bethesda\u2019s Todd Howard. Why anyone would want to use it isn\u2019t exactly clear, but the option is there for those interested.<\/p>\n

In all likelihood, CD Projekt Red will get around to fixing the desktop icon problem itself sooner or later, though it\u2019s safe to assume that players may have to wait longer for that than other fixes. With how many more serious (and more NSFW) glitches there are in Cyberpunk 2077<\/em><\/a> at the moment, it won\u2019t be all that surprising if this issue ends up being a lower priority for the developer.<\/p>\n

While there are a wide range of issues that players may run into at the moment, some of them, like the desktop icon, are things they can address themselves. For instance, anyone who bought the game on PC digitally can fix Cyberpunk<\/em>\u2019s audio popping and hissing<\/a> by adjusting a few things in their computer\u2019s sound settings.<\/p>\n

Cyberpunk 2077<\/em><\/strong> is now available for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X\/S versions slated to launch in 2021.<\/p>\n
